Awful strips I rejected in favor of the “four words” bit

fourwordsalternate1 fourwordsalternate2I found these hidden in between the real pages while grabbing them out of the binder to scan.  These three strips, a Friday, Saturday, and a Sunday, would have run in place of the strips leading up to the “four words — your twin sister Sal” thing.  I guess I decided that they needed more punch and I redrew them.  Good choice, me!

EDIT: Heh, actually, I think what I wanted was to get Walky unstuck from that wall for this sequence.  Again, good choice, me!

Here’s the last of the displaced old comics.  See Sal swoop away with Joe!  See Billie and Danny smooch chastely on a bed!  See Walky make the Alien mechs perform “YMCA”!  See Sal go to Taco Bell!  See the dumb payoff to an even dumber running gag involving a puppy that for some reason was not included in the redraws!

Apparently there was another week skipped between the Sunday strip here and the following daily.  Man, keep a schedule, dude!  (I was probably visiting friends in the Upper Peninsula.)

As you can see, the new version threw a bunch of extra stuff here — Walky’s dilemma, Joyce’s actually-documented trip to the White House, and a sense of a larger scale battle (hopefully).  Things go from A to B to C really succinctly here, without much room to breathe.
