This. More or less. The point is of course that Mary’s really awful, but that doesn’t mean Billie’s suddenly become sympathetic. So now we’ve got two horrible persons arguing & it only serves to create more negativity. Wow, what a mess.
I just kept looking at it. Then I stood up and tried to position my body like that. Then, once I had it, I tried walking in such a way to produce that pose.
I can do it, but it requires this incredibly awkward reverse sashay. It takes actual concentration to maintain. It is far easier to sashay while keeping one’s shoulders and hips in alignment and crossing over legs – that produces a very seductive, sexy walk. The other one, that Billie is doing… mostly just looks like one is having a spasm.
To be clear, that isn’t a criticism of the drawing itself, which is quite good (particularly the background) but simply the pose. I wonder what it was originally meant to imply.
I think it’s supposed to be a combination of confrontational march, stereotypically feminine sashay, and a little bit of tipsy wobbling.
The exaggerated twisting and swinging of the hips are characteristic of the sashay, the pointed finger is the confrontational part, and the skewed lean of the entire body is the drunk part.
It’s actually an interesting mixture of movements, but cramming all of into a single panel muddles them up.
But as stated above, it’s a relatively good deawing up to this point in the series.
I just stumbled across this page randomly in the archive and I really like the colors on this strip. I know you probably added them in later, but I like them. I really enjoy the warm color palette – although admittedly it doesn’t SUPER make sense for a scene like this.
This is why I maintain a general policy of not getting involved in or even acknowledging other people’s conflicts. You can’t just start it on the spot in a situation like this or everybody will get mad at you for taking the other side by refusing to take a side, but if it’s already a well-established behavior then there’s a decent chance of it being reluctantly accepted.
If that’s how Mary thinks babies are carried it’s probably a good thing she’s not gonna be a parent anytime soon.
I am now imagining Mary holding a baby (presumably hers) wrong and dropping it, and I can’t stop laughing.
What the hell is wrong with me.
grabbing it by the neck, wow, thanks for that reminder
[I say of a “Pete’s Dragon” plush I loved yet scruffed up by carrying it by the neck ’cause that’s where I had a better grip]
Oh….
Oooooooooooooh….
How can you not care about Danny? The universe literally relies on him!
To suffer.
Exactly.
Just throw it at her head, Billie!
It’s weird, as horrible as Mary is at least with her around the comic has something to focus around now.
Billie’s totally stolen his role as main character though. The entire comic revolves around her now.
Not that you’d ever be able to convince her otherwise.
Looks like Danny’s thinking “why the fuck does anyone care what I think?”
To be fair, Billie does look drunk in that first panel….
It’s funny how Danny is the best character in this strip on the sole basis that he doesn’t say anything awful and mean.
I dunno, Joe and Sarah are also not saying anything.

I just gotta say, that first panel bothers me.

Contrapposto?
“JoJo’s Billizarre Adventure”
Like A Billie Stream it surges Like A Billie Stone!
That first panel is probably the best art we ever got in Roomies. There’s like, three dimensions and shit. Well done past Willis.
It is good art in that first panel, for Roomies. You can see Mr. W’s improvement all the time.
It’s confrontational I think. She’s about to get all in Mary’s face.
Lmao with the ‘holding the baby statement’.
I feel sorry Danny, just what any guy wants: to be stuck between two pissed off females ‘she said, no she said’.

Is it an “option” if it’s default?
[j/k]
You forgot to tag Mary.
No one wants to tag Mary. OK, maybe a grudge tag.

Danny, you will fuck up, just watch!
