I’m not trans, but if there was some technology that could transform me into the opposite sex for a few hours I’d definitely want to try it, just out of curiosity.
I’m positive this number would be very, very, very close to 100%. Obviously, there would be a significant percentage who’d loudly condemn, rage, rattle and/or mock, but they too would try it, in secrecy.
I think BEING trans has shown me that even if it could ever be “that simple.” It, really can’t.
I can be a woman with my experiences never really matching a Cis woman’s in some parts, and there will be guys/others who WILL have those experiences. In the same way not all Cis women will experience everything the same.
Even if we built a switch that made it as simple as “on, off. This, or that.” It won’t be that. In fact, if we learned to make it that simple I think it would only show how much more complex it could ever be.
I wish it could be that simple. That it could just not be years in the closet, better procedures, not having to go through Puberty again. But the closest I have seen to that and it being a help isn’t a ray. It’s not an instant change. But a systemic one. More literature, more resources, more accessible and safe at earlier ages.
TL; DR: I WISH I could have a ray to make it a quick fix. But that addresses the symptom, rather than the roots. I just don’t think there’s a point unless we address the roots, first.
Or, another way: Part of my trans experience is knowing that I will never be what Joyce was before the ray hit. But that’s not what my transness is or needs to be. It’s being more myself. Not more Joyce.
How’s that for role reversal huh? Feels like a bit of karma for this:

Yeah seriously.
Hey Walky – hate to break it to you, but you’ve always been an easy lay.
Seriously… unfortunately many guys don’t put the standard they aim it at women towards themselves.

I appreciate this thread a lot.

I think that Joyce has pretty much got the hang of how to act like a college-age male!
