Seeing characters, even for a MOMENT. Lean into any gender bend thing, just hits so many trans moods/notes that I forget the issues I can have with the trope. Like, it was the closest thing I had TO trans rep for the longest time.
Jayce’s line has me wondering, did the gender bender affect their powers after all?
Walky specifically highlights “can lift a car” as a benchmark for his and Tony’s strength when talking with Rikk in “The Seventh Power”, but implies Joyce ranks slightly lower (possibly as a tradeoff for her jetpack mindlink).
The implication would be either that males naturally get a bit more benefit from the alien superstrength, or Jayce is just currently overdosing on male hormones and bragging to his girlfriend. (Given yesterday’s strip, probably the latter.)
I thought they confirmed that the jetpack wasn’t her superpower. Her power is math; any abductee could use the jetpack, but only she can make the on-the-fly calculations needed to use it effectively.
Okay, so I assume that my initial reading of the comic, where Tony saw them kissing and spontaneously ejaculated and crawled away in shame, was NOT correct?
Oh, I literally thought he had died. Oops.
To be fair, it was fairly heavily implied, both in the comic and in the commentary.
The power of Joyce and Walky’s love has resurrected him!
Tony’s not dead yet! He’s getting better! He feels happy!
You are not fooling anybody, now go and get on the cart.

Shit like this gives me just a SLIGHT inkling of Gender shit in the back of the DOA iterations heads, too. Which is a darn Pipe dream.
Typical Joyce and Walky: Neither knowing nor caring what their relationship does to others’ sanity!
Yeah I’m not going to lie this is kind of where things get weird for me.

Maybe Walky just runs on that assumption? He’s always been a bit hung up on gender stereotypes.
Or maybe Joyce got a little less super-strength and durability to accommodate her jetpack telepathy?
Or maybe Joyce can lift a smaller car, like an 80s Civic or a Dodge Neon, so she’s still technically correct.
