Apparently yes, Alex does have legs. Also a very shortsighted view of the world.
Hum, I broke into a secret computer, Feds are breaking down my down…wonder what they want?
Harry is the owner of aintitcoolnews.com a website that used to be a hot place to go in the late 90’s for the newest info about upcoming movies or in development projects. Studios didn’t like him very much because he would often uncover details/early reviews about their movies and release them to the public before they wanted the public to know about them (I forget what exactly). Nowadays he just runs a normal movie news site but his early days were pretty investigative so Alex is referencing that side of Harry.

Knowles is a self-taught computer user, and he created Ain’t It Cool News- a very popular website at the time. Alex may simply be appealing to the highest nerd authority he can think of.
So Alex is clutching his CRT monitor as they drag him away, rather than the keyboard? Those things are heavy, even more than they look (though I’m a bit of a wimp). Maybe he figured it was the heaviest thing he could hang onto?
It also makes me wonder how many people are pulling him (or if it’s just the one; Semme’s feeling a bit short-staffed at this point). I mean, do we ever find out who’s doing the arresting here, or is it just “mysterious off-panel Semme agent”? (now there’s a Slipshine candidate…)
And lets just say there may be a few 90s references before this day is over.
Just wrap the complaint around a Snickers bar.
Harry Knowles jokes improve with age, IMO
Alex says “What?”
like he’s surprised they’re arresting him
after they break into his room
after he hacked into a secret computer.
That utter disregard… rather, that utter disbelief of consequences is still rather evident on the internet today, years later.
Of course, back in the 90s, we simply called them “Internet references.”
Wait, Alex has LEGS?!
Better question: “Wait, Alex is WEARING PANTS!?”

I still don’t know who Harry Knowles is.

People, don’t encourage people who refuse to google for themselves.
Yeah, seriously, this is what Google’s for: Feigning knowledge of things that you’re actually completely ignorant about.
