Yep, here’s a new epilogue to the previous iteration of this flashback. I can see why Head Alien didn’t play the tape that far. It was probably not a great moment for him!
the being averse to violence thing b/c being angry enough to beat the shit out of even an obvious supervillain means admitting he cares about a girl, especially one being tortured?
“I can still hear you in my dreams,
These steely* walls echo in your screams.
I can’t feel what they have done to meeee…
‘Cause I’m not a monster.”
— “Superhero” by Aaron Bilodeau
* (I think he sings “steely” but I’m not sure, but he’s referring to the walls of Head Alien’s ship/lair here. My quote starts at the 1:37 mark)
Yes you do have the potential to a monster, Walky. It isn’t your fault; it’s your heritage from your mother but, if you don’t keep a tight rein on it, yes, then you can be a monster.
That’s why you were so perfect for project SEMME. Even more than Tony and Sal, you were a terrible bludgeon for them to hone and point at their enemies.
The big blank here is what happened between Walky going berserk and his ending up beamed back down unconscious and half-dead. I guess however the aliens subdued him was pretty intense?
well no one WANTS to grow up, you gotta do boring shit like taxes
*drags the hacked muzak from the other strip*

Yeah, but what really sucks is when you never do grow up, and then it turns out you _still_ can’t be aToys-R-Us kid.
yeah, THANKS FOR THAT, MITT ROMNEY
Holy shit I forgot the red panels started in the Walkyverse.
I knew it was coming, and here it is: the strip that introduced me to the Walkyverse.
What I know is where the hole “I’m not a monster” bit came from. I’m not going to say it’s cliche but I am going to say it’s random.

Still have that song in my rotation. “Steely” is what I hear, too.
…I guess you can say Walky knocked some sense into Alan!

For an alien, Big Alien uses an awful lot of human idioms.
Having been in the receiving end of kid punches, I wouldn’t want to fight a superstrong one.
It’s like being pelted by pinballs.
And there it is.
On my first time read-through, for whatever reason this hit me ten times harder than Dina, and Dina didn’t hit soft.
Walky’s not a monster, he’s a Toys-R-Us kid.
… Bad news for you on that front in 15 years, buddy.
Unfortunately (fortunately?) for the Walkyverse, Toys-R-Us may never go bankrupt…because the Soggies may rule before that could happen.
Ah, it’s ok, just come to Canada.
“I don’t like girls, but I like you way less.”
I’m glad the Electro-Chair is labeled Electro-Chair. That’s just proper lab safety.
Or too much free time and a label maker.
I think not growing up is no longer an option, now that Toys-R-Us is gone.
It was at this moment Head Alien realized…. that he probably shouldn’t piss off his superweapon.

Apparently his potty obsession can’t be linked back to this moment.
