Eat up, Hon.

Location: The Warners' house
Mike’s death in It’s Walky! hadn’t been really touched on in Shortpacked!, mostly because I was trying to keep Shortpacked! its own space. But I threw a wrecking ball to those boundaries in this storyline. I was 4 years in, may as well start poking at the edges of its smaller universe.
Mrs. Warner said no arguments, Amber. Somehow you will bring that food home with you, airplane or otherwise.
Yyyup.
I mean, you can technically take the food on the plane with you, if it’s stored in your belly
Now you’re just arguing semantics
I’m now going to assume that you know semantic cookies and semantic soup are a thing.

And Amber takes her revenge for last comic.
Is there any other strip, either in IW or Shortpacked!, where sober Mike looks sad?
In the last panel? I don’t think he’s sad. He look more like he’s thinking “ah, shit, here we go again” to me.
I think the penultimate panel could be read as some kind of negative emotion.
Panels 3, 4, & 5. He gets back to his usual grumpiness in the last panel, but those three look like he’s actually feeling bad about something, possibly his parents’ feelings. (Which is ridiculous, but…)
And then he rolls his eyes because his girlfriend is a tactless idiot.
Anyone else hear that in CJ’s voice? (I’ve been playing a lot of GTA San Andreas lately)
The page right after Dina’s death comes to mind.
Yeah, well he DID die Amber. Like a lot of characters in this storyline did. It’s just that, with Martian tech, death is less permanent than human emotions are really rigged up to handle!
I’ve read the Shortpacked! archives [redacted] times and I never noticed Mike’s expression change in the 5th panel. I really like it.
