Here she is! It’s breakout Dumbing of Age character Dorothy Keener. Unlike Toedad, she’s actually important in Joyce and Walky!, too. You’ll be seeing her a bit.
GUESS WHAT, Dorothy’s initial look was inspired by a photo in my in-law’s house of Maggie from high school. Her hair is short and it’s dyed blonde. I added glasses because, well, nearly nobody in It’s Walky! had glasses, and so they helped distinguish Dorothy as a new character apart from everyone else, especially in black and white.
Walky’s perception grew…Keener
About that. I just noticed that some of the characters have the same last names as in DoA, although others are different. What’s up with that?
Some of them have story reasons, like Sal. For others, like Dina, I imagine Willis either wasn’t satisfied with the old surname or thought of a new one that he liked better.
Something something Sarazu isn’t a Japanese name something something.
Like who? The only ones I can think of with different last names are Sal and Beef, and that’s because DoA doesn’t have the whole “twins switched at birth” thing.
Ruth and Dina, off the top of my head.
Oh, also Jacob (it was recently revealed to be Williams—I’m pretty sure it was originally something like “Manley”).
No you are confusing Jacob with congressman Jake Manley:

Maybe theirs got revised to make the puns slightly less obvious for the reboot?
Carla is also different because she’s not Joe and Rachel’s kid, and presumably here she’s not a car.
Yeah, Jake Manley also exists in Dumbing of Age – albeit offscreen there to date – as Robin’s opponent for her congressional seat.
That’s quite a …
Keen spot
Oh hey!
First time thru this arc for me, so I’m looking forward to this universe’s version of their DofA shenanigans.
Also, “based on a photo of Maggie”? I shoulda known.
Right? No wonder Joyce is so into her 😛
It’s gonna be so WEIRD seeing this Dorothy when I’m so used to DOA Dorothy as the main one.
I remember my first time through this arc, this was the point where I said “HOLY SHIT! IT’S DOROTHY!!”
Prior to that, I’d assumed she was a DOA original.
Also, it has been very hard to avoid calling this the “Dorothy Intro Arc” the past few days when I knew this was coming.
Oh, shit. He noticed Dorothy because she mentioned ANIMANIACS.
Yeah, that’d make me notice her, too.
So in this continuity, I guess he threw a Yakko Warner toy at her?
Saxophone.
First appearance of Dorothy in this universe, and I like her already from the fact that she’s talking about Animaniacs.
The upcoming stuff with the NoWalkyVerse (where Dorothy and Walky are together) makes me wonder what would need to occur for Dina and Walky to work as a couple.
An extinction level event that leaves only them behind and a lotta booze I’m guessing. 😛
That’d be Dina/Mike. Dina/Walky… dunno. I do think their relationship would’ve naturally fizzled at some point anyway, though.
so what would stop the frizzle?
And she and Amber are made into clones of each other in DoA.
“nearly nobody in IW! had glasses”
Not quite the other way around now… yet.
Dottie! This would be a good thing but for what I remember is the flip-side of her Walkyverse incarnation.
Still, I can hold out for a J/W/D triad, can’t I?
Knowing that Amber and Dorothy were both based on Maggie visually makes the running gag about them looking alike in DoA way funnier.
