The odd thing is, that while I remember the name, and I remember David working there, I cannot recall ever meeting one of the restaurants “in the wild”. I guess that’s the result of mostly being a Hermit.
I remember hearing people talk about going there when I was in high school and from the way they were talking about it, it sounded like they were planning on getting into a club with a fake ID or something.
So for years I just assumed it was a club with a dumb name.
Then I read about David working there and read these strips and finally walked by it in NYC and was like, wait, so those kids back in high school were sneakily talking about going into the city in order to go to a theme restaurant?
Huh! Well, there ya go. I guess those kids in high school were sneaking into a club after all. I imagine the “simulator” you mentioned in today’s post wasn’t often used during the club hours to about unnecessarily crowding drunk people into a small enclosed room for a set period of time.
I hadn’t heard of Mars 2112 before now. Sounds like it would’ve been a cool restaurant to go to, but I’ve never been to either of the cities where they were located during the times they were open.
Nope.
Wish I did. Looks neat.

Name’s familiar.
Nope. You are alone, David.
I totally remember it existing. I used to walk past the one in NYC all the time.
I never went INTO the establishment, though. 😢

Anyway, teenagers are silly sometimes, I guess?
It reopened up late at night as a 21+ dance club. I didn’t work those portions, but my roommate did.
Things got drunky.

I remember the Rush album 2112, back in the day. Yes, I’m that old, and get off my lawn.
A classic, I wore out my first album, I had to buy another, and of course, now I have it on CD, along with pretty much the entire RUSH catalog.
Nope, but since there were only two locations, and they were nowhere near me, it’s not surprising I haven’t heard of the place before now.

I actually went to Mars 2112 in the NYC once. It was kinda neat I guess?
It all comes full circle…. also don’t know what you’re talkin about Willis.
Was that the sequel to Earth 2110?
I ate at one once in my life.
Sal saying “Heavens Mercy” awesome
Yes. I remember the shit out of this place. Went there a lot as a kid and loved it everytime.
Yep!
Twice.
It was adequate with very red light.
