WHAT IS THAT?
on February 7, 2018 at 12:01 amChapter: The Seventh Power
Characters: David Walkerton, Dina Sarazu, Head Alien, Joe Rosenthal, Joyce Brown, Meighan McDowell, Mike Warner, Monkey Master, Rikk Oberf, Shanna Cochran, The Cheese, Tony McHenry, Will Erixon
Location: Mexico somewhere
“Throw the ship at him” is easily the most Walky decision ever.
A wonderful The Cheese drawn by Jason there.
“Rikk, run get your wife off the potty. No time to flush! It’s Defcon No Flushie.”
Jason renders a good Cheese, and I like the effect of the panel borders bending around his “spine” and the folds of his cape, as if his mere presence warps gravity and reality. Not sure why we opted to show only IW characters in the last two panels, but we might’ve wanted to show pure intragroup dynamics for Squad 128 a little more before the climax, as one of Walky’s high-stakes dice rolls is about to go into action.
I agree with Tony, I’m not sure ramming their ship into The Cheese would actually do anything to him.
Well, it worked on Cthulhu.
“yeah, who needed transportation anyway”
I really like “Yeah [he has a god complex], but if you try to diagnose him, he’ll smite you.” It’s a solid line.
“Throw the ship at him!” So does that mean Walky likes The Cheese?
No FAANs characters looks like an artistic choice due to the lack of space, the word balloon alone is right where Rikk shoudl theoretically be…the background action makes up for it as Will and Rikk seekk out Rumy, Alisin, and Jackie while the IW folks stumble around trying to abandon ship!
I’m getting confused here, possibly because it’s been ages since I archive-binged the Walkyverse. Searching this iteration for the Cheese tag just deepens the problem.
How much does SEMME know about the Cheese, beyond what we’ve seen on camera before? The very first time Joyce ever meets him, she attributes to him the power to resurrect the dead, despite it not having come up during that incident. Head Alien clearly knows him. Has he been “maintaining the balance” between the Aliens and SEMME since before the strip starts? Are both sides familiar with him already?
She didn’t attribute the power to resurrect big boss to him. She attributed the power to the resurrection chamber that Cheese just sealed, that he could presumably unseal again.
The final panel background cracks me up. Mike’s giving Joe a parachute, but he still has to act super angry about it.
Is there a particular reason to take on a Physical God other than the fact that you don’t like him, Walky?
Because he can see that The Cheese is trying to take the people they were chasing Head Alien to retrieve.
