The Last Roomies! Story Ever, Promise: Page 5
on December 21, 2021 at 1:01 amCharacters: Danny Wilcox, Ruth Lesse
Location: Danny and Joe's dorm room, Ruth's grave
March 19, 1999, is the day Ruth died. This is the morning of.
In case you don’t, like, keep important Walkyverse dates like that filed away in your noggin. Heck, Lord knows I don’t.
I did not know that specific date.
Jesus.
I mean. I’ve seen this story before. I’m one of an apparently eensy numbera folks who bought Roomies! Book 2. And I remember reading this.
But I didn’t know the date.
Gotta write those dates down in a binder
or a wiki
Look there’s only like three of us who edit the thing and this was a previously book exclusive story, give us a bit. 😛
No regrets.
What, you can’t remember every date? I thought you’d have more… integrity.
I see what you did there.
I have no regrets.
Suddenly, Panel 3 of this old strip reads very differently. Danny’s still an utter prick, but now it’s at least Ruth’s own words he’s throwing back at her so the dig doesn’t feel like it came out of nowhere. Honestly, the one thing that “One Day” did really well was selling the idea that Danny and Ruth were actually friends, albeit dysfunctional, so it’s nice to see that carried on here.
Everyone in the Roomies cast has gotten more likeable with time. Even Ruth’s mean friend who has like one post-Roomies appearance.
Oh lookie, it’s that car.
….
Um…
Happy Solstice everyone?
This comic is a bit too somber for my Solstice eve cheer, I fear.
It’s probably about right for Gauda Prime Day, though.
Not pictured: The fact that Danny, flirting with alcohol in this storyline, is already a beer into his day.
I first started reading Roomies over a decade after the date Ruth died, so I really didn’t keep track of the dates when events happened at the time.
That’s the day my former brother in law turned 18 and we took him over the river to Quebec to go drinking. It’s kind of a tradition growing up in eastern Ontario because the drinking age is lower. What a weird coincidence.
Maybe you should add in all tge dates the strips were originally posted.
