This is all YOUR fault! SATAN! SAAAAATAN!
on February 21, 2019 at 1:01 amWas that third column added later? I forget. There’s so many iterations of this file on my computer, and I don’t wanna go dig through the other site to see if which one’s the “real” one, so here’s the version with the most stuff.
This technically takes place earlier? But I felt, like, I left a lot of Joyce baggage on the table that needed to be addressed. And so here it is! Joyce’s sexual hangups are a dang jungle, so much so that you could… write a whole other webcomic about them. Hypothetically. At the time, though, I thought this’d be it, so I came back with this.
UPDATE okay everyone hated the extra part, it’s gone
I… think column 3 was cut??
I know that *I* have never read column 3 before this. I kind of prefer it without… that end joke isn’t bad, but there’s no third thought-Walky to complete the parallel, and the three Joyces’ punchlines are a lot less predictable but still in character.
I gotta agree with T. The left hand side does a great job of reconciling Joyce’s multiple personalities and her ‘issues’ and puts her on the path to having a more healthy relationship, which will help her and Walky later, for ‘reasons’.
Walky, on the other hand, has grown past what we see on the right, and it doesn’t fit. In fact, it detracts from the whole page.
I saw all this when the original comic was running, and the third column was not there in the original run.
The problem isn’t that Walky has grown past this, so much as it implies he wouldn’t be in the moment enjoying what he and Joyce are doing. Unlike Joyce who has the parts of her personality that are in conflict internally.
I definitely have never seen Column 3 before.
Yet another person chiming in with no memory of the third column.
Yeah, third column’s new.
I only remember the Joyce parts because the Joyce parts were good.
hehehe you said ‘parts’
The entire comic is new for me, as I am reading the rerun for the first time. However, it seems like a pretty weak punchline. Weird and random things can go through your head while having sex, but this just seems like too much of a nonsequitur, even for Walky.
Same here, I got into this continuity part-way into Shortpacked.
Maybe the Walkys should have been high-fiveing each other, Mature Walky because he loves Joyce and Immature Walky because banging?
Column 3 was not in the version that I’ve seen before.

And there we have it!
So the Anti-Joyce that was killed wasn’t removed from Joyce’s consciousness, but a duplication.
Dream Walkys amuse me.
Maybe column 3 should be relegated to a blog entry, since it isn’t in the version on the old site and consensus seems to prefer the strip without it.
The psyche of Joyce Brown, ladies & gentlemen: Id, superego and ego, all trying to work out exactly how to respond!
Mhmm see while BenRG hits the nail on the head, I’m reminded of what my own therapist told me about the Younger Selves we carry with us and how we should address them directly and show them their old hang-ups aren’t needed anymore. I like that Joyce is doing that.
Maybe if the internal Walky was saying something like “aaaa boobies!” it would be less weird and more relevant than “ha ha ha poop”.

Column 3 is new and also kinda bad
I definitely reread the old strips on Joyce and Walky like two weeks ago and the third piece is not there.
