Your old red SUV
on April 19, 2019 at 12:01 amPanel one: Yeah, with Ruth dead, Danny has stepped in as Howard’s surrogate older sibling, in perpetuity. He does about as good a job at it as Ruth did.
Panel four: Howard is absolutely talking about me, this comic strip universe’s god, and who I am about to imminently unleash…
Who calls an SUV a car?
(I say this bc my MIL insists hers is a “truck”)
They call them trucks to dodge emissions laws. SUVs are big cars.
Denial minivans. Oh, I’m sorry; minivans are useful.
I needed a van for a work project a few months ago, so I asked for a small moving truck. That got turned down because they wanted something that could fit in a parking garage. I asked for a regular van, which inexplicably got denied for the same reason. Finally I asked for a Caravan. They rented a “large SUV” instead, and I got stuck with a VW Atlas. That thing had half the cargo space I needed, so I brought it back and finally got the minivan I asked for in the first place. Packed that thing to the rafters and got the job done in two trips instead of seven.
Vans are good.
I’ve always loved Howard’s line in the last panel, and I actually think making it about the writer kind of diminishes how great it is. It’s really funny to me that this is just how bleak Howard’s worldview is.
Now, the question is will her dialogue read differently to me this time?
Howard’s parents are alive in this timeline, huh?
We’ve seen Ruth’s and Howard’s parents – well, their father (Richard “Dick” Lesse) at least, off the top of my head – in this timeline. Ruth once caught him cheating on their mom with Mrs. Billingsworth, aka Billie’s mom.
I definitely forgot that they’re alive in the It’s Walky universe as well.
No one’s commented on it yet, so I just wanna say, I see what you did there with regards to the chapter title, and it’s a nice touch.
Is there some way to tell what the chapter title is for a given comic?
It’s Amazigirl, right?
Dany’s car became Amazigirl.
ultra car= no ragrets.
