It hast to be, no one else is that much of a insensitive asshole that they suggest that a married couple should threaten to shoot their kids in order to keep her in line.
It’s my working theory, because of the rectangle thing in his chest. But aside from that… was it ever established? I don’t remember, and I re-read the whole comic relatively recently (about half a year ago?), so I would expect to remember this… and I don’t.
No, it wasn’t. He’s a throwaway one dimensional archetype with no real characterization for the short time we’re aware of him. In part that is because Sal doesn’t really know either, and in part it’s that he’s only really of important impact here (Sal’s parents, of course, make a much more important impact later).
Would even that stop her, though?? I mean, it IS Sal
might be a tranquiliser.
I’ve been reading this comic for around 10 years and I still don’t know what this guy’s deal is.
My theory is he isn’t even standing in shadows or anything. I mean look, everything else in the room is perfectly well lit.
Dude actually dipped himself in black paint or something to achieve that effect.
Beef has his mother’s eyes.
You mean sunglasses.
You look just like your father… but… you have your mother’s eyes…
*grunt*
suddenly sunglasses ?
Are standing beside you~
Let’s see, being a dick, waving guns around like they ever achieve anything, trying to manipulate Sal…that’s Jason isn’t it?

It can’t be Jason. It was Sal who recruited him into SEMME.
This ’90s-era flip-phone will help!
Jason is too much of a wuss/gentleman to shoot a female in the back – I think. That’s maybe Doc.?
Martha looks just like Sal (in sunglasses) here, which is confusing because she’s not her biological mom.
I’m guessing that’s how the baby swap was pulled off for so long. Sal looks a good bit like Martha, so they were none the wiser.
Suddenly confused myself now that nobody seems to know who Man-in-Black is. Isn’t he Alan?

The MiB’s identity is established, though I don’t believe it has been yet.
“I tried to stop her, sir! She wouldn’t listen! I told her to stay away from aliens–”
“Aliens? WHAT ABOUT ALIENS?”
Like so many power-crazed idiots throughout history, the creators of SEMME were the makers of their own Nemesis.
Martha wears her sunglasses indoors at night? She seems a lot cooler than Sal’s biological mom already.
Right, becuase guns control everything. Always default to guns.
Question: Were you even TRYING to be subtle with their names? Jonathan and Martha? Come on, those are Superman’s adoptive parents.
