“Friendly Helpers” brings me back. I … don’t remember what the Friendly Helpers were, but I remember the… title…
so old
It sounds like they help Friendly’s
Or they are delicious spices that make your Friendys taste better when fried.
Does Walkyverse Dorothy run HS track as in DofA?
Also, I’m hoping this arc is about Billie doing a Pygmalion for Walky.
Don’t you mean doing a Cyrano?
It could be both; I don’t remember if Billie coached Walky on what to say.
Is there such a name for a usurped Pygmalion gambit? Billie was making all her great plans and Walky and Dorothy got together before Billie could swing into action. Walky even tells Dorothy about that in this arc.

A Cyrano’s when you’re also in love with the target. A Pygmalion doesn’t have to end that way, My Fair Lady changed the ending.
I can’t believe that that part of Cyrano didn’t cross my mind already.
She has to get to all those activities somehow, if she’s doing them all before she can drive.
I’m pretty sure Friendly Helpers was a BMS thing. I think it was the name for the kids who were runners for the office delivering notes to teachers, passes, etc. I could easily be wrong on that though.
Google just brings up childrens’ books and a few nonprofits scattered around the country.
It sounds like it could be a school-run student volunteer organization, like a small scale Lions Club.
So Dorothy was in a ton of after-school activities in high school. I pretty much was only involved in the band in high school.
Me too (hail fellow band geek!), and knowing how much of my time it took up with rehearsals, performances, one-on-one lessons with junior members of my section, jazz band, the acapella group, talks at elementary schools, the end of year concert (which had its own series of rehearsals, lessons, etc)…I certainly didn’t have time for anything else. I was always amazed by people who not only found time for other activities but also school work.
