Wiggle my butt
on May 25, 2013 at 12:01 amChapter: Sexuality and the Modern Joyce
Characters: Joe Rosenthal, Joyce Brown
Location: Danny and Joe's dorm room
And within the final panel, on December 2, 1998, Perverse Sexual Lust was spontaneously created.
Is Joyce trying to get her to Joe her up the butt? XD
When you first coined “Perverse Sexual Lust” as a joke/in your strips, were you still uncomfortable with it/in this phase of your life or was it the beginnings of you embracing… more?
Coincidentally, I found myself wondering at what point Willis turned to the dark side, as it were…
I think this is when the first signs of butts disease first appeared. Personally, I never got any of it on me, but it did begin to color the work. Although, the dark just became more and more progressive after Sal became a character. Seriously, after the van arc, things REALLY began to get dark, it just kept getting worse. I mean it always stayed light at points, but the dark stuff just got DARK! Although, I think the sexy stuff was always stored in undertones throughout IW! I would guess mr. Willis’ own personal journey would roughly mirror Joyce’s journey albeit with about a couple months prior, so he could acclimate to talking about it. Writing about it.
He really got comfortable with sex stuff during Shortpacked! Then again I think I rambled enough.
TL;DR
Around here it started, got slightly more in IW, exploded in Shortpacked!.
There was plenty of playful “PSL” in It’s Walky, though clearly there was also a lot of thrashing through sexual neuroses.
So a couple of months before this he was bent over in front of a college guy, wiggling his butt and trying to be found sexy?
Can we get that as an animated gif?
And now, Joe doesn’t see Joyce.
You know what would be hilarious, to me if nobody else? Redrawing this strip in your current style.
I have a feeling you want this for impure reasons. Reasons I will not hold against you.
Agreed
Also, the beginning of Butts Disease.
It’s an epidemic from which there is no escape.
Joyce is sexy and she knows it.
*runs*
Aaaahhh
Joe look at that body
Aaaahhh
Joe look at that body
I have seen PSL used in the wider internet. It, like butts disease, has spread beyond the confines of this universe.
Joyce’s face in the final panel just looks weird to me. But maybe that’s just the discrepancy between the recognized face and the body’s actions.
I’m super-reminded of that IW strip, though, when Walky and Joyce are trying to figure out how to sex and Joyce just leans forward awkwardly and goes “Touch my butt”.
Joyce uses Attract!
It’s not very effective…
I dunno at what point in It’s Walky the poll ran that gave us the term “PSL,” but at this point Joyce is still too neo-Cubist to do anything for me. Her most distinguishing feature is her hair, which is shaped like some ghost piranha that started to devour her head and got bored halfway through. She looks like a neurotic chess piece.
And this actually works for the strip in a strange way. Joyce, at this stage, shouldn’t be inspiring such feelings. The idea here is “Joyce makes herself unattractive,” not “Joe has too many blinders about what is attractive.” It’s been conveyed that Joe is something of a connoisseur, whereas Joyce is a borderline-deranged stalker.
“…her hair, which is shaped like some ghost piranha that started to devour her head and got bored halfway through”
Last panel. Now I can’t unsee it!
…on the other hand, there aren’t any women who do look better than Joyce at this stage, so…
Oh god, this may be one of the saddest panels thus far. I cannot even begin to describe how wrong this is. She is so…
My reaction is Joe, we’ll go with that.
