WHO TESTS MY PATIENCE

Characters: David Walkerton, Dina Sarazu, Jason Chesterfield, Joyce Brown, Penny Worthington, The Cheese
Location: Transparent Steel Chamber
Really laying that “who’s The Cheese’s secret identity” red herring on really thick, here.
QUICK THROW A TOWEL OVER HIS HEAD MAYBE HE’S SO STUPID HE THINKS IF HE CAN’T SEE YOU YOU CAN’T SEE IT
We don’t know that DOESN’T work.
*five seconds and twenty casualties later*
We now know that it doesn’t work.
i must be reeeeeeally dense! even having already read to the end of it’s walky!, i didn’t notice the false identity hints until you pointed them out. and even then, it took me a couple extra glances to piece it together
to be honest, i never considered that the cheese might have an “identity” until they started discussing it in-story
I must be even denser, because I *still* don’t understand what this “red herring” stuff is about, even after going back to his previous appearance and reading the comments.
I think I knew what the red herring was at one point, but now I forgot and can’t figure it out again.
Dina maybe? The Cheese is saying, that Dina’s death is familiar in panel three (looking at he blood splatter while commenting on the stench of death), but then implies that the first time the Cheese encountered her death, the Cheese did not have senses. And the only person there who wouldn’t have senses would be Dina (well I guess Mike has been knocked out also but he felt pain while Walky was wailing on him).
I would not have come to that conclusion without knowing that there is supposed to be a hint to a red herring in the comic though.
Seems likely.
In the Cheese’s last appearance he calls the Mist’s magic “indeterminate advanced technology”. Willis says there’s a red herring in there somewhere and during the Fans crossover there’s a strip where the commentary refers to “Dina’s drop of the usual maxim about how sufficiently advanced techology yadda yadda”.
(However, I can’t seem to find the strip where she actually says this….)
It’s on the bottom here
So it is. Thanks!
Yeah, it’s Dina. Last hint involved him using the same wording that one of the characters had said a short time before, and it was her.
Aagh I just noticed that splatter is tagged as Dina 😱🤢
Should Jurassic Park be tagged?
FUZZ IT, IT’S THE CHEESE
Okay, Willis needs to go back and edit a strip so someone can shout this.
Well, OBVIOUSLY cheese is yellow. Come on, Joyce.
Not green cheese?
Pretty sure The Cheese is not a T-rex. Well, he could be one but that seems very unlikely.
Everyone, remember how the Cheese had previously claimed “Right of Salvage” on the Fans? Now, what could the Britjas and the Fans have in common…
The Britjas are from another universe? Also, if I remember correctly wasn’t there something about not finding anything about Jason’s past?
And this is why they fear the Power Booster Rod – not because of its power, but because of who its use summons.
That’s it! It’s so obvious! The Cheese is none other than…
Red Herring!
And he would’ve gotten away with it, too, if not for those darn kids and their… wait, where did Daniel go?
The Cheese is yellow too? Heh. In retrospect, Willis did warn us of the ending twist long before it came, didn’t he?
Meanwhile, I do hope that Penny is going to enjoy being transfigured into a ferret or something.
tbh I’d love to see a fic based on the what if of the Cheese being the person it was foreshadowed as.
Okay now I’m really wondering who Ol’ Cheesy actually is, because I doubt it’s going to be as satisfying as if it were Dina.
