I think someone in casting thought “Benedict Cumberbatch normally sounds like Hugh Laurie, therefore he must be just as good at doing an American accent.” By the time they learned they were wrong, it was too late.
As much as this Dorothy is just kinda painful in hindsight I don’t think she’s necessarily badly-written per se. She at least has a reason to be acting the way she is here, and it helps that while the evidence of alt-Joyces killing alt-Walkys was probably fabricated/manipulated (and there were probably other universes where Walky married Dorothy that Heady’s not showin’ her), Joyce killing her own clone because she couldn’t accept the parts of herself that Anti-Joyce reflected was completely real, and wasn’t not even something that Heady goaded her into doing.
Yeah, Anti-Joyce is very much a concerning thing to know about any friend’s fiance, and Walky’s most concerning moments (McHenry Sr. becoming collateral damage of Walky’s beatdown on HA, nearly killing Mike in a rage after Dina’s death) were covered up where Joyce’s got leaked to the public.
She’s still worryingly gullible in continuing to work with Head Alien and accept his word, but I could see her telling him to get lost but thinking the marriage was a bad idea anyway. Or hell, having concerns just from knowing the anti-Joyce thing.
This universe’s Dorothy seems to have forgotten that Walky has abductee powers as well, so even if in the future Joyce did go crazy and try to kill him, he wouldn’t be that easy to kill.
Probably nothing. HAII showed Dorothy billions of universes where Walky and Joyce got together and Joyce killed him. Universes where they didn’t get together, like universes where they get together and it’s fine, don’t serve his point, so he didn’t show them to her.
Green Goblin kills Joyce so Walky marries Dina instead.
They broke up over Walky’s immaturity and the secret that he got Big Boss killed. If Walky had matured a little sooner and not gotten Big Boss killed, things might have been very different.
Dorothy no.
Also, just gonna say it. Cumberbatch sounds weird as Dr. Strange.
so he sounds…. strange
Maybe. Who am I to judge?

They should’ve just let him use his normal accent, regardless of the character’s origin.
That worked when they cast Patrick Stewart as Picard, the most English-sounding frenchman in Starfleet.
Damn it, I tried to imagine what Cumberbatch sounded like as Strange but I keep getting House.

Still kinda hard to watch though.
“wasn’t even,” not “wasn’t not even”

Ah, that kind of helps explain her motivations a little more to me beyond a fixation.
Still like DoA Dotty like a bajillion times more, but that stands to reason.
They’re completely different characters, as far as I’m concerned.
And much like Doc Strange, the Alien is a lying piece of shit
This universe’s Dorothy seems to have forgotten that Walky has abductee powers as well, so even if in the future Joyce did go crazy and try to kill him, he wouldn’t be that easy to kill.
Now I’m wondering what changed in the timelines where Walky and Dina stay a couple.
Probably nothing. HAII showed Dorothy billions of universes where Walky and Joyce got together and Joyce killed him. Universes where they didn’t get together, like universes where they get together and it’s fine, don’t serve his point, so he didn’t show them to her.
Nah I mean like what would have kept Walky and Dina together.
Green Goblin kills Joyce so Walky marries Dina instead.

That was supposed to be a reply to Hugo Bedward
Speaking of, I wonder if Sal ever found out about Walky killing Big Boss
