Characters: Anthony McHenry, Bryan Nowak, David Walkerton, Dina Sarazu, Falls Asleep Fast Woman, Fitz, Jim Carrington
Location: SEMME housing lobby
I should probably get Falls Asleep Fast Woman a real name, huh? She shows up twice! And gets multiple lines! And also I could say this was her with the line in this Dumbing of Age strip’s final panel!
other woman doesn’t need a name, who cares about her
Do we have a Lynn yet? How about Lynn?
Lynn Innes because… beds have linen on them….??? Wow that’s really bad
beware of Constance Norring
Hmm… Falls Asleep, take the first syllables to get Falas… Phyllis. That’s a name.
Narita Colapse.
Nora Callepsie
I like this one.
I thought of Narcissa O’Lepse along the same lines. So then I thought about how she was falling asleep after sex, and came up with Pearl Actin.
But really, is there any reason her name should be a pun, and not just something that sounds nice? She looks like a Rachel Eileen Moore to me, even if that doesn’t have anything to do with sleep.
Well played, that took me a minute.
Stella Nolan?
Also, this could be her, to the left of Ruth? http://www.dumbingofage.com/2011/comic/book-1/04-the-bechdel-test/nerds/
I think both Falls Asleep Fast Woman and the redhead woman need names.
Redheaded woman already named, she’s Fitz as per the tag
After looking at all the strips tagged with Fitz, I don’t think that’s her. I think the guy on the left in the last panel might be Fitz.
Correct.
Weren’t Bryan and Jim the ones hosting the “questioning individuals” meet up? It’s amazing how Bryan makes no mention of the sex of his new partner, or of the sex of the people hitting on him. Did you know he wasn’t straight at this point, Willis?
I noticed Bryan’s reference to “someone” and “folks” also, and wondered the same thing.
I dug through the Wayback Machine, and Bryan’s lines did in fact specify “girls” in the original version. As far as I can tell, nothing in DoA specifically says that Bryan is gay– Jim merely states that Bryan came out to him, not what he came out as– but while keeping it as was wouldn’t have necessarily contradicted the anything, I can see why the change was made nevertheless.
How about Rory? Like Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty?
Also, not sure about the redhead. She should probably get a name too.
Aisling means ‘dream’. Sandy like the sandman?
Jeannie, like ‘I dream of’?
Or you could go the hippie route and call her Dream, which would be kinda funny since it Does Not Fit her personality.
Right, crap, redhead.
…Why not just call her Red? It’s a not-unheard of nickname.
Flannery means redhead, so that would work.
Ruby, Scarlette, Cerise, Garnet, Rowan, Maple, etc. are all decent red meaning names or red associations.
Her hair makes me think of Rachel, so what about Rebecca? I know we have a Becky but we could actually call this one Rebecca.
She’s Fitz, Jim and Brian’s squadmate
I thought that was the guy in the background?
Fitz is a guy – Hooper and Lith’s squadmate, and on the left of the final panel, here. The only females characters in any of the strips tagged ‘Fitz’ are Lith and Joyce.
I don’t think either continuity has a Freida yet.
Frieda was the one in Shortpacked! who made the “you can’t scan it, does that mean its free?” joke. She was repurposed in DoA as one of Robin’s campaign coordinators, specifically the one in charge of the free interns – I mean, volunteers.
Dang.
How about “Other Frieda”?
(I tried to search and came up empty, only to realize I misspelled it after the fact…)
When I first saw the redhead, I thought she was Becky McIntyre but then I remembered that she wan’t a SEMME agent in the Walkyverse.
Sleepy McSleepyface
Oh, right! This is the storyline where Walky becomes truly fucking loathsome. Enjoy the smelling jokes while we can!
Your strip doesn’t have a Bridget yet. I think it needs a Bridget.
This is totally unrelated to the fact that Bridget is my wife’s name, I swear. *wink wink nudge nudge*
Nobody’s asking the important question: where are these two women in DoA?
I asked this! In the commentary!
Empirical test results: Contradictory.
Next step: Bathe and try again; possibly try to persuade Joyce to try to flirt with Tony to see if the process is gender-agnostic.
Waiting for the Venns to diagram: Is this the first intersection of “woman has sampled Joe’s charms” and “got rid of him because he’s a toy nerd”?
Somnia Sawlogs.
Pink shirt has a line, sniffs.
Walky’s lecher face is truly terrifying.
She looks like a proto-Becky.
And yeah, whatever happened to the character who was supposed to be saying that line?
“Falls Asleep Fast Woman” looks a lot like the unnamed customer from this Shortpacked! strip, give or take a top surgery.
