Well, DOA Danny is a different character. They share several traits but still different.
This Danny? He’s an arrogant, condescending, self-righteous jerk, even if he doesn’t mean to be. The only explanations I can think of for Sal and Joyce is that they’re both unstable, obsessive, and see him more as a representative of an idea than an actual person. Ruth seems to be somewhat unstable as well, though on the more depressed side. Can’t say about Billie though, don’t know enough about her from this continuity though. She didn’t do anything when she appeared in Shortpacked and her appearances in it’s Walky were fairly pointless, though I could have been lacking vital subtext since I haven’t seen the begining of her stories. I get that she knows Joe and Walky but she just seemed to appear over there for the sake of reminding people she exists.
I think jerk is a bit of a bad way to put it. Really, he’s just bland; his blandness is all-consuming and therefore leads people into assuming he’s a jerk. You will feel for him later on in Roomies.
It’s the attitude that makes him a jerk. It’s unintentional on his part but it’s still there. And I wouldn’t bet on me feeling sympathetic towards him anytime soon.
Danny isn’t exactly upset that Joe got rid of her, but rather about how he got rid of her. While Danny doesn’t want Joyce to be his stalker nor his overly attached girlfriend, he might still want her to be “just” a friend.
And even regardless of that all, Danny doesn’t want anyone to be made crying. Anyone. Not him, not Joyce, not Ruth, nor the Head Alien (if he knew about it, yet). No one. Not even Hitler.
My take on the whole thing is that Danny doesn’t really like Joyce and doesn’t have any actual interest in her, but enjoys having someone follow him around and tell him he’s perfect, so long as he’s not required to actually care about her as a person in return.
I dunno, I can’t think too harshly of Danny here. He doesn’t want Joyce stalking him, but he’d feel bad about upsetting her. Being a rather timid and sheltered 18-year-old, he’s just not mature enough to realise he needs to face up to rejecting her outright.
(He’s not a patch on that gentle, harmless, two-timing creep Yusaku Godai from “Maison Ikkoku”)
Well, except that Danny was kind of a jerk about it. Also, Joyce hasn’t really been stalking Danny this year. So the problem was already solved.
It’s like Danny wants to be stocked. Maybe he secretly likes the attention? Guy like that, how many women would ever pay attention to him?
Well, he did get with Sal, Ruth and Billie and in another universe he’s also getting with Dorthy and Amazi-Girl, so more than I have. XD

That’s the second time that involved tears and Joyce called a dude perfect.
Er… first?
Please tell me this is the only time anyone ever calls Danny perfect.
You know, besides the giant spiders that devour him. Please tell me that happens too.
Sal probably does at some point. But like Joyce she’s an obsessive nutjob.
“Perfect” seems to be one of those words teenagers, especially, don’t actually know what it means, like “literally” and “unique” =p
… No such luck, but he at least barely appears after Roomies is over and is generally more tolerable in his brief showings.
Danny, you complain about her and dislike her stalking you (supposedly). Why exactly are you upset that Joe got rid of her for you again?

I really hate Danny.

Why is Joyce in here crying?
She should be crying in here OWN room!
BAH DUM TISCH.
On the one hand: PROBLEM SOLVED.
On the other hand: You don’t solve your problems by crushing someone’s already clearly fragile self-esteem.
Joe, I both admire and despise you.
