My first thought when reading this one was that I’d started putting up Twitter accounts for all the Dumbing of Age characters as a secret preview for my upcoming new webcomic project, and that this was a extremely subtle hint to start looking for Walky’s account. But no, this strip is from June, and so it probably predates San Diego Comic-Con that year when I made the decision to launch a College AU strip. So it’s just about Walky being a dick, I guess!!!!
Weirdly, Joe’s never had an official Twitter account, Walkyverse, Dumbiverse, or otherwise.
Officially Joe was too busy gettin’ down with the ladies to mess with a Twitter?
Assuming that all of these Sunday strips are taking place before Joyce and Walky’s wedding, I find that doubtful.
Wait, you decided to do an AU strip and constructed an entire new continuity within three months?!? Damn, that’s a quick turnover.
Granted, that would explain a few of the continuity oddities in early DoA, like Joyce saying that Becky’s “parents,” plural, are making to go to Anderson when we later find out she’s been dead for… about a year or so I wanna say?
Of course, Joyce still views married couples as singular irreducible entities at that point, so it’s easy enough to explain.
I think that could be handwaved/retconned as vernacular momentum. Bonnie died only a few months before the continuity picked up, so Joyce may not have been in the habit of referring to Toedead alone yet.
The big one is probably when Sal’s backstory got decided and suddenly gloves appeared in strips where they hadn’t been previously.
I remember when that started happening.
Joe builds up a following by getting mistaken for a shitposter talking about random nonsense like his car leaving him to work in a toy store.
I honestly can kind of believe that Joe wouldn’t have one, particularly Walkyverse, where he would probably just really not like to be put into a position to be tagged in Elon Musk tweets.

Boy, the ‘Joyce disapproves of Walky antics’ dynamic really gets run into the ground, huh.
If David hadn’t ended J&W when he did they might’ve fully morphed into the biracial Lockhorns
I can’t believe “couple hates each other” has sustained that strip all these decades. That must be peak Boomer humor.
That thousandyard stare and the audible thought, Why am I marrying THIS, again?
I kinda feel old because even now I still don’t really take my phone with me a lot of the time. Or maybe I’m just weird, I don’t know.
My phones (yes PLURAL) are exclusively for Pokemans and the only way I remember to take them, although even that has backfired especially after COVID bc some days I just can’t be bothered to waste another $10 on the next higher level data plan
I’m with Joyce on this one.
Huh, it hasn’t updated yet. Weird.
Two strips were uploaded yesterday
…oh, wow. I totally missed that. Wonder what happened there?
Oh, huh. I assume most people also didn’t notice since it barely has any comments.
Everybody go back a strip and comment like it never happened. Let the out-of-order timestamps on the comments confuse future generations!
OH. That’s what happened.
I just assumed I’d gotten a day behind somehow.
it begins
Shoutout to me getting my first cell phone when I was in college because I never called home AND because my mom had a cell phone she would literally forget she owned and would leave at home for days at a time.
I guess I should clarify my parents gave me my mom’s cell phone because I was never using the dorm phone because back in the day we had to input three dozen numbers in order to call outside of campus and they figured a cell phone would make it easier for them to get in touch with me.
Listen… things were different back in the day.
Wait … some people do carry their phones everywhere?
Weeeeiiird.
