At first glance I assumed it was a book, but it doesn’t make sense for him to be holding something while opening the refrigerator unless he was taking it out / putting it in.
Well, the only person tagged who doesn’t appear in this strip is Joe – Are you implying that’s Joe’s head in the box? That’s dark. (Also, Joe is still very much alive and not headless in IW and SP, so it’s somewhat unlikely…)
That’s about it, indeed. Okay, we *know* Danny is really tense about interacting with Howard, but I’m not really feeling that here.
Again, it’s hard to care. They’re both so boring. I expected Danny to find Billie drinking herself to a stupor. Instead we get Howard being awkward and Danny being kinda “meh” about it.
The layout seems to suggest a kind of “dun dun dun!” effect.
Seriously, Danny. The way your eyes float around your face, as if your features are unattached to the skull and just move about at will like a sprig of parsley on soup. Get that looked at.
For dot eyes, they’re mostly allright. Floating features are definitely a thing, though. Even modern Willis art suffers from it occasionally, mostly by neglecting the skulls / foreheads of characters.
Howard is Billie! I knew it! I knew it the whole time!
Have they ever been seen in the same room? I don’t think so! Case closed.
TWIST: Howard was Billie, who was the R.A., who was Joe’s mom
Plot Twist: All of Danny’s friends are a single entity capable of duplication and shape shifting.
…So Ruth was just a cruel trick?
The art is still a bit proto-Willis, but I dig the layout here.
What’s in the blue box, Howard?
No, seriously, what’s in the blue box. I want to know.

Knowledge is a dish best served cold.
At a guess, it’s either dishwasher detergent or cereal.
Check the tags, folks. For serious.
Shhh this is funny.

Joe is in the strip, that is his shoulder in the first panel.
Clearly, it was a box of Cheeri-Joes.
What the heck are “Picard Poofs”?
Yes. Good layout here.

It’s kind of surprising that Howard is here at all, but yeah, it is not as much of a dramatic reveal as the layout would suggest.
The layout suggests that he’s rolled over in bed one morning and noticed Howard is lying next to him.
Which is kind of how he’s been reacting to Howard since Ruth.
“UGH WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO DEAL WITH YOU, YOU REMINDER OF MY DEEP AND UNENDING FLAWS”
Some nice probing of the 4th-wall in that last panel.
