I’m not any stranger to rage

And Walky’s like, oh, riiiight, you shot your clone in the face. And also your butt’s cute.
I dunno. This strip feels more like an overcorrection than the previous few strips. Emotional trajectories shouldn’t be perfectly linear, but this feels like it’s trying very hard to put a pretty bow on things. There should be more uncertainty.
There has always been something mildly endearing about these two insistently using the word “tushie” like this.
To be fair, the characters themselves are trying really hard to put a bow on things, hoping that this time their relationship will remain perfect forever.
Yeah, that’s true. That does make it feel a bit more natural, in that they themselves would be actively wanting to return to some normalcy. It is still a bit cheat-y, but not wholly unconvincing.
“Keep telling me about how autohypnotic my body is to you, Walkerton. It will do so many good things for you!”
Joyce: remember back when I went kind of crazy and killed another version of me then snapped at you really harshly just a few days later.
Walky:Yeah but I got over it, because let’s honest that butt though.
Don’t discount the power of the booty.
Joyce’s face in panel 4 sells it well.
I dunno… the ellipsis sells it to me. She knows that this is trying hard to put a pretty bow on things, but I think that she realizes (as anybody who has waded through enough shit does) that unless you put your foot down and /decide/ how to start feeling about things–thus how you think and act–you may be waiting for a long, long time, maybe a lifetime, for that feeling to occur naturally.
