Stare a hole
on March 12, 2014 at 12:01 amChapter: Premarital Hanky-Panky
Characters: Jennifer Billingsworth, Mary Bradford
Location: Mount Rushmore
Oh yeah, here we go. Â Here’s where I definitely decided Mary wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, that she’s kind of a little stuck up her own ass.
It’s the way it had to be. Â Billie’s the source of her own moralizing. Â She doesn’t need a Mary, and Billie’s being a better Mary to Danny than Mary is, with her “oh I can’t bang you because of Reasons” schtick. Â And so suddenly Mary is surplus to requirements. Â She has to find another role.
Let us discover that role, together.
She’s so evil, I bet she’s going to go to a party and sleep with a dude.
Has she ever read “The only moral abortion is my abortion”?
That’s madness. Were such a thing to happen, the gaping maw of hell would undoubtedly appear beneath her, as if forced open by the incalculable weight of her sin.
Ooo… ooo… ooo… Can I guess? Um… fan service character? No that’s not it. Love triangle? Nope. Oh girl who carries giant calculators. Joyce’s absent has left a void for that niche.
Nonononono, i think it’ll be Joe’s love interest!
Think about it, the quirky artist who’s fundamental to the core, and the free love womanizer. It’ll be wacky hijinks ALL day!
All women are Joe’s love interest.
Or maybe it’s a hint that Mary’s into role-play. You know, /adult/ role-play.
What, so she plays AD&D instead of 4e?
This is gonna be fun.
For certain values of fun.
Come, let us watch the slow hypocritical train wreck that is Mary.
Mary went from the ideal woman to the anagonist in like a season.
Being a bombshell can be its own curse, look at all the real-life ones that turn psychotic as a result =p
I suppose there’s a reason her new role couldn’t have been ;girl who just goes away since she was a mistake’?
We wish. We all wish.
Resigning Mary to the same fate as Lyman or Calvin’s uncle would be too good for her.
She’d still get to show up in flashbacks.
I honestly don’t remember any of the stuff that happens between here and the beginning of It’s Walky. So apparently Mary stopped making an impression on me at this point.
YOU LUCKY DUCK.
I’m honestly in a similar boat. I remember some of the final comics, and I know we’ve got some comics to go before this storyline ends, but since I’m pretty sure Roomies! doesn’t end in the next fortnight, I’ve forgotten something.
Billie is tempted to drink?
Mary has a sex?
Danny is forced to talk to Howard?
Joe attempts to grow a beard?
Mary chokes Danny with a seat belt?
Danny imitates Ruth to win back Billie?
Ring any bells?
Wasn’t Mary having a sex entirely in external strips? Oh, they’ll be here in BBR but I was talking about Roomies! itself.
As to the rest: sort of and I probably just confused it with DoA, above, yes now that you mention it, no, no, and no!
Wait, wait, I’m remembering how the Mary plot and the external strips work now. It’s alllll coming back to me. Well, not all but hey that’s the point in reading BBR.
Not remembering it. But I only read through Roomies once on an archive binge sometime in 05 so its not surprising. Still if all that stuff happens I may have to build a time machine so present Willis can go back and beat up his old self.
Aw, come on, it’d be boring if it was all, “OH MARY WAS A MISTAKE *eraseeraseerase*” ’cause then Danny doesn’t get to have his comeuppance!
[“wait that happens?!?”]
Anyway, who knows was even Mary-er Marys we’ve narrowly avoided just because Willis took them away before they ever did a Blaine! Maybe we should be grateful! D=
It’s all downhill from here, folks. Strap in for a fun and bumpy riiiiiide.
Oooh, I can’t wait!
Surely that role is “the star of three truly hilarious strips when they come back to college in the fall, also knows as SPOILER’S new SPOILER“.
…The Head Alien’s New Groove?
(I’d watch that movie.)
The Closest thing this strip has to a main Antagonist not counting Head Alien since he only really becomes Big Bad in It’s Walky?
Nah that can’t be. Willis the Younger wouldn’t make a Christian a villian.
I vote the title of this strip be slighted edited to be “Stare a**hole.”
