Because she’s not awesome? She’s an asshole. She keeps justifying herself by making necessary sacrifices but then when it comes time to protect people she doesn’t care. It’s all about her all the time and yet she still can’t manage to kill HA even though she should eb able to snap him in half right now.
She could have said it’s about the billions of people on the planet who would be spared from the Alien threat via the sacrifice of a few hundred (a few thousand?) SEMME personnel.
…But she didn’t. She’s not doing it for them, she’s explicitly saying she’s doing it for herself.
And that is kinda terrible, yes.

Y’know, if Dina appears in the days before Shortpacked ends, and she’s still in the other two strips, we might get a Dina Triple Crown, which I don’t know has ever happened before
I guess if it doesn’t pull through, we can get the artists in the fandom to produce a bunch of Dina fanart to make up for it.
Come to think of it, do we really need an excuse to prod the artists in the fandom to produce Dina art?
This set of comics with Sal & Head Alien are some of my favorites in the early storylines.
Im Going to start counting every time she’s made the decision to throw away countless lives over stupid vendetta.
