I had a victory like that in Frozen Synapse–I was defending in Dark Charge, and though my opponent killed my last vatform at the end of the last turn, none of them “charged”…
That reminds me of the end of Saints Row II. I got to the top of the Evil Building, all pumped up to fight the Evil Man, and discovered an empty office. I ran around it for a half an hour, went back outside, found the Evil Man gaping up at the sky like a turkey expecting rain, and emptied a clip of ammo into him. Then the credits rolled.
FORESHADOWING!

Me: Huh?!?!?!

“Help, I can’t open the cockpit.”
Wow Jason what bullets are you using?
Yeah that’s an impressive as Hell handgun.
Jason discovered the physics of the bullet.
That they’re completely useless?
I knew these guys were barely competent but that mech is REALLY shoddily built.
Uh…. ran out of hit points?
