For the longest time, I thought it was important that Joyce and Sal never meet prior to It’s Walky!. I wanted them to become friends because Joyce doesn’t realize Sal was that same girl she hated in college. But circumstances with Joyce’s brain changed things by the time I got to It’s Walky!, and so me keeping Sal and Joyce apart in Roomies! was no longer necessary. That meant I could go back and shove this story in! And so I did.
Joyce’s parents are exchanging glances in the last panel because they were engaged at a very early age and are quietly not appreciating Sal’s skepticism. Let’s just say that Joyce’s oldest brother was not necessarily a planned pregnancy. Those Browns are horny.
Hahahahahaha, oh this won’t end well, will it?
No clue, but I’m getting popcorn.
Ah, I misinterpreted. I assumed their irritation was with Joyce, who we later find out has pulled this stunt Cheese knows how many times before.
Your statement that Browns, generally, are horny, intrigues me, as we later find out that none of Joyce’s five brothers ended up with children. You’re probably just talking about the parents, though.
Horniness doesn’t always correspond to fertility!
I don’t think it was ever said any of those five brothers were straight, was it?
So the answer I’m getting is that all five of them were infertile or all five of them were gay. The hell are the odds of that?
Or some combination thereof.
In a universe run by Willis? Imagine the malicious amusement he would derive from inflicting a super-conservative christian family with five gay children.
I vaguely recall something about the mother saying her sons would never provide grandbabies, but I could be mistaken.
Yeahhh, it’s nice to know the real reason for the parents’ skeptical looks, but even after following the work for a good chunk of my life I can’t say I find that reason the most intuitively obvious one. Joyce’s mom may not have been grandbaby-crazy at this point, but she would still probably be impatient with this “fiance” routine by now.
I think one can be grandbaby-crazy and still realize when your daughter has no idea how to get a good boning.
I’m kinda amazed Joyce took “Suck” so well.
So, they got married early so that they could have their wedding night in the devirgining fountain?
… Wait a minute. How early had Willis been planing the It’s Walky stuff?
Always.
Wait, you really were already planning for It’s Walky this early? I was talking with a friend and wasn’t sure if Sal’s breakup was originally a set-up for that or if it was a retcon.
I REALLY hate these scenarios.
