I remember when I was beginning Dumbing of Age, and I wanted to lean more into Dina being the Dinosaur Lady, with RARRR!s and all, but I remembered this scene where she kinda wasn’t into it, and I was like… do I need to respect this scene one universe over? Is Dina too dignified or reserved to go Full Dinosaur?
I think we all know I ultimately made the correct decision.
maybe it’s like how Amber wanted to fuck Donny, not BE Donny
She hadn’t discovered Selfcest fic yet.
If cloning will be possible in the future, that might become reality.
We already have VR goggles. Tactile holograms may be a possibility soon.
I’m not sure if I want to know what that means, or not.
In case you make up your mind: Crushes.
Dina is actually impersonating Todd the Candy Dragon from “Phoebe and her Unicorn.”
Walky and Joyce don’t read “Phoebe and her Unicorn,” so they don’t get it…
I still think of it as “Heavenly Nostrils” to the point that seeing it referred to by what’s now its actual title feels weird.
Impressive considering this was a decade or so before that even launched.
Then they all do it dino style!
Poor Dina, a third wheel in her own relationship.
obvs they are doing some Kamala/Kim Chee-style role-playing. Dinosaur and handler.
Interesting. I didn’t interpret this comic as Dina being to dignified to do that, I interpreted it as her feeling awkward that Walky and Joyce were making a connection and she was feeling insecure and jealous, so her attempt to be a part of it reflected her emotional state.
Oops. “too dignified” not “to dignified”
Same. It’s a big part of why I loved this strip, actually. Jeez, how much of It’s Walky is apparently only good by accident?
Yes, you made the right decision. Then again, I don’t like this Dina at all.
That’s okay, I’m sure we can work past that, for the sake of the comic. You monster.
Yeah, I also don’t like this Dina. Since we only see very specific sides of Dina and certain moments in this universe, the two Dinas really come off as completely different people to me (both just happen to like dinos and hats). And there seem to be a lot of times where I completely interpreted Dina moments in this universe differently then Willis intended them when I read it originally years ago (going by the author comments he’s been posting below the comics)
Open the door, get on the floor. Everybody rock the dinosaur.
hello darkness my old friend
