You know, a thing that occurred to me after that long comment about Pamela’s post-hoc justifications? She’s also not watching her daughter grow up because of the tag. Connie here consistently looks much younger than her counterpart, and I feel like a little shorter too. Again, things we know over in mainline Walkyverse (and choosing to start this with the wedding just looks better and better the more I think about it,) THAT Conquest is now so successful she’s a legitimate competitor to her father who very nearly sniped Amber and Mike away from him. Their relationship seems irreparably strained, unfortunately, because Galasso learned everything he knows about interacting with humans from Ra’s al Ghul, but nonetheless our Conquest has grown in ways this Conquest seems not to have just yet. Pamela shifted the fabric of the universe to stop things changing, and while I get her motivation – since obviously she will literally die – refusing to allow those changes is stifling everyone, including the people she loves most.
Leslie, of course, hopped dimensions in a desperate attempt to keep those she loves from leaving her, which is part of why she’s so much more sympathetic to Pamela here than Rachel. That, and I imagine Rachel’s had four years of being stuck in this fucking universe to be completely and utterly DONE with it.
I’m not sure this conquest is that much younger so much as she hasn’t been pushed into her sexuality like our conquest. She’s not wearing reveling clothes, probably not wearing high heels and I assume Galasso hasn’t been telling her to bear him an heir. Our Conquest is strong but she also went through some rough shit without her mother. I don’t think praising that is what you intended but none the less I doubt this Conquest will grow exactly the same, growing with Pamela is too much of a difference.
And yeah. Leslie just got here and she knows Conquest and Galasso personally (in her dimension), there’s no death, not being forced to come out and leave a spouse (like Leslie did!), no awful parents drama (like Leslie has!) also the memory of Robin always regretting pulling said tag. Of course she would be reluctant! On the surface it doesn’t seem bad!
But Rachel is more familiar with the bad of this all. There’s no character development so long as your flaws are comedic enough. Joe is still a womanizer who never joined the alien fight, are his parents even divorced yet or is their fighting and cheating used as a comedic prop? What about this universe Rachel? Still just a cashier girl making snarky comments at the flirty customers? Did either of them even got into engineering?? As you said, so much potential lost over a cheap joke of an universe.
Something I’ve just realised… Why is Rachel wearing torn, beaten down clothes and rags? Like, there are shops here
I’m sure buying a new pair of jeans wouldn’t count as “drama”.
It might depend on how she arrived. It’s plausible that a significant enough outfit change would count as “Drama” (Amber had a whole storyline about dressing sexier post drama tag), and otherwise characters stay in whatever is designated as their “outfit”. So if she arrived in the universe already post apoc looking, it’s quite plausible the Drama Tag designated that as her “outfit” and resists any attempts to change it.
I made a post based on the old cliché of the old generations not approving of stores selling distressed jeans, and the moderation filter is _not having it._ So just imagine that it’s here, I guess 😛
wonk wonk
Ultra-Kid
I mean, you’re not wrong, Malaya.
Also, Malaya appears to be missing from the tags.

Robin’s not your girlfriend, Leslie. At least, not right now.

Is it just to look cool? Cos that’s acceptable.
It does look cool, so that’s probably why she’s dressed like that.
If she dresses like a an rebel, maybe she gets to act like one? But only within humorous confines.

You’re saying that brand-new jeans from the store don’t look like the ones Rachel has? Ok, boomer.

Yeah, but they were all black-and-white line art until Leslie arrived.
