Anyway, there, all of Ruth’s pins knocked over. In your face, Ruth! You had bad sex and your dad’s a slut and you’re not a terribly attentive babysitter when you’re horny!

To let you know how perceptive I am/was, when this first ran, I thought that girl was Ruth, and it confused me for a very long time.

You know Willis, your description up top says “Ruth’s new conquest”, instead of Ryan’s.
So whatever you do, DON’T change it.
“Ruth’s new conquest”? Were there some body-swapping shenanigans in this story I was previously unaware of?
That’s why it upsets her so much. Ryan stole her girlfriend!
Dudes keep doing that to her. At least Ryan didn’t get her killed first.

It’s the 80s headlights.
Under normal conditions, finding your so-called boyfriend with another girl, after you’ve just slept together is pretty upsetting, but not a thing to kill your self drinking over. Happens all the time.
But, I guess having it happen when you’ve almost let the kid you’re babysitting for die while you were screwing, and walking in on your day with the kid’s mother: could really be called a pretty bad day.
You notice that all those incidents are a result of sex? Wanting it, cheating to get it, and doing it at the way wrong time.
Correction: Ruth was babysitting Billie, not Walky, while Ruth’s dad was busy screwing Billie’s mom. Which essentially means she paid Ruth to have a dalliance with her dad. Ruth was her dad’s pimp!
And then something bad happened to Walky while Ruth had decided Walky was none of her business, which makes her feel bad she didn’t make Walky her business.
First loves can be incredibly emotional, and Ruth was a teenager on top of that, which means it was magnified by that too. In her mind, she had just given herself to Ryan completely, and it meant a lot to her. On top of that, she found out her dad is cheating on her mom while preaching “act with integrity” all the time. So she’s been majorly let down by the two men she most cares about in the world, at the same time. That’s a huge blow for someone her age.

The only real solution is boning Danny. His blandness will kill pretty much any emotions you’ve got. Of course Ruth takes another option.

Ruth’s snarkiness is eternal
Well, she does end up t-boning him, but that’s not really the same at all.
I saw this one coming. I figured this Ryan dude was the type. I mean come on, of course he’d have a girl his own age. Just taking advantage. This is a lot of trauma for a few days.
Ruth didn’t deserve this. But it makes for one hell of an origin story.
frankly I’m surprised she had enough in her to not tell Howard and break him too.
