Joyce has not had a great history with cats, but she doesn’t know that. The author didn’t know that either, considering he wrote that stuff five years later.
Cats are the most hateful, vile creatures to ever stalk the Earth, fooling people into thinking they could ever know love.
And I’m insanely allergic to them.
Seriously, cats are the worst.
Cat attitudes (cattitudes?) vary from individual to individual and breed to breed. From what I’ve read, the ones that are more capable of self-maintenance (feeding themselves, litter-training themselves and not requiring a caretaker when you go on a short vacation) tend not to be the ones that are friendly to humans, because the former is independent and the latter is dependent: opposite ends of the cat personality scale. Yours sounds like either the latter type or possibly the rare specimen that does both.
We have one that’s constantly needy for affection and attention… and one that mostly ignores people except when he decides he likes them and needs to sit on/near them. He used to do that a lot for me, but since Mom’s illness, he’s been focused more on her, because he’s apparently decided she’s more in need of a cat.
My parents cat is quite social from I have seen, she seems to like being near people for the most part even when she is not on a petting mood she will just go to the room people are and stay close by.
Silly Joyce, don’t you know how cats work yet?
You forgot to have the cat wriggling to get free.

I am quite allergic, but I love them
Congratulations to Mr. Petshop and Mr. Guy, married fifteen years today!
Cats are the best. And they don’t allow themselves to be owned. Joyce will learn.
Moral of the lesson is Cats are the biggest assholes
Cat=Mike?
My cat is weird. She’ll actually spend an entire day following me around, letting me pick her up whenever.
your cat is broken, check the warranty.

You are just following her in advance.

mine’s like that too. my father-in-law’s cat eats with a bird. unusual critters.
Least she didn’t try licking it this time.
