Liberal arts school
on April 9, 2014 at 12:01 amChapter: Back to School. Again
Location: Joyce and Sarah's dorm room
So.
Joe went on a road trip with Mary without learning that they’re going to the same school in the fall.
Normally I’d think, “man, that’s kind of unbelievable” but then I remembered this is Joe and this is Mary. Joe’s probably forgotten what Mary just said already.
Only three? Better step up your game, Mary.
In story… there’s already thousands that want to when you count the readers.
… Oh my God, Joseph and Mary. I just realized this. Please tell me it was intentional…
Nothing immaculate about THAT conception!
Wait.
Well in both cases the Father of Mary’s baby isn’t Joe.
I guess Mary doesn’t know the difference between art and liberal arts?
I think that makes it even better.
That’s because only two people know you’re going here.
Now, here if you look above, you will see a character beginning to feel the weight of the narrative turning against them. This is an interesting situation, especially since this isn’t the protagonist. She is free to react to this pressure as she wills. Let’s watch as she strives to surpass these pressures and become a wonderful mature woman.
Ahahahahahaha.
I like how the second panel looks like a plug for IU (except for the ‘yer stuck with me’ part).
At least you’re popular, Mary
So we can add Mary to Joe’s “do not Joe list” a distinction she only shares with Joyce and Joe’s Mom at this point.
To make up for this Mike added Joe’s Mom to his list twice.
I’m not so sure. I think Joe by this point hasn’t yet realized that he cares about Joice a lot, but we’ll find that out when later on Walky visits them to find out about Joyce’s past.
More importantly, she’s the only woman aside from his mom to actually stay on that list The two others are removed later on.
There was a girl in college that didn’t do any of her homework in a liberal arts class. When asked why, she said that her minister back home sat her down for a long talk before she went off to college and warned her to never do anything a liberal told her to do. I’m not sure if it was the girl who didn’t understand the difference between ‘liberal’ and ‘liberal arts’ or the minister. Or both.
I feel that girl and Mary have a lot in common.
So… her minister told her to flunk out of school, basically? Cause, I mean, a LOT of members of academia ARE liberals, even if they don’t bring their politics into the classroom.
That seems incredibly irresponsible.
Three people? Well, I guess she knows that Billie is going there.
*facepalm* I read the last panel incorrectly and missed that he said Billie, not Sarah.
