Joe & Joyce Journey Through Art History, page 1
on February 24, 2013 at 12:01 amCharacters: Joe Rosenthal, Joyce Brown
Location: Danny and Joe's dorm room
Hey, here’s something I drew for my art history class after I’d left Indiana University to go to the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg. It was December 1999, just before It’s Walky! started, but I drew a Roomies! story about Joe and Joyce in college anyway, since I’d discovered that their personalities bounce off each other super well. So I figure this story happens kinda now-ish, as far as these archives go.
I got an A on it! Because I’m awesome.
Wait, wasn’t she complaining about her being naked earlier?
Yes, but this is Art. Random statues aren’t Art.
What about the Showalter Fountain, though?
It’s not in Art history books, therefore it’s not Art.
And a pagan deity! It’s amazing Joyce doesn’t just burst into flames.
I know these stories weren’t always written in order (and that yesterday’s strip wasn’t even part of the comic until you decided to add it in), but it’s really amusing to think that Joyce just finished firing a Barbie doll of Sal out of a cannon, then immediately switched to happy mode and came over here.
Of course she did. She’s back to hunting Danny, after all.
I remember starting the archives off with It’s Walky! after I started reading SP! and decided to go back one comic. So I saw the end of this arc, and thought it was odd that you ended a story at a random spot.
Ooooooof course I didn’t actually read any of the other comics at all for a few months, so yeah, dummy is me.
Ooh, Joe has an early cell phone, it’s not plugged in
The “art person” is presumably Mary?
This is really making Roomies Book 1 completely obsolete isn’t it? I mean with strips risin from their graves and other ones being placed on here when they weren’t in the book.
I smell a reason to republish Roomies book 1.
You know, it’s weird. So far I don’t like Joyce, and I don’t like Joe but I like the idea of them spending time together. Character chemistry is strange that way, maybe he’ll make her less crazy and more fun? Maybe she’ll make him less focussed on sex all the time?
Well, if you want them to have that sort of impact on each other you have to wait another…five? Six years?
Is that in this comic or It’s Walky?
One transitions into the other. It’s cumulative.
Jo and Jo… This is going to end in pain.
