I have this nightmare regularly, where I’m back in school and have completely forgotten my class schedule, books, etc.
–though, conveniently, I’ll have the nightmare where I’ve COMPLETELY missed some upcoming event due to sleeping through it or being eight hours away (at my parents’ house for some reason) only to wake up pretty much on time to leave, so there’s that
You’re not alone. Pretty much every college graduate I’ve asked has had the exam nightmares, and some of them still have them three decades after graduation, bleah.
Given that I LITERALLY graduated because the school made a mistake, I have these surprisingly infrequently.
Now, ones where I reach the end of the semester and suddenly realize I never attended a single day of one (or all) of my classes… Those I have all the time.
In my version, which finally stopped happening sometime in my late 30s, I’ve enrolled in college while unemployed (which happened in real life, but when I was 18), then found a part-time job. The job has rapidly expanded to the point that I’ve missed a lot of classes (which didn’t happen in real life–it was two weekends a month at the comic shop until I found another job after graduation). I’ve carved out some time to spend at least a couple of days in school, with the idea that I’d catch up.
Except that I’ve completely lost track of how much of the semester has gone by, and I’ve shown up on exam day, having missed roughly a month of classes and most of the material.
That dream would hit me two or three times a year until I’d been out of school about a decade.
I’ve always found exams the easiest part of college. I just have to show up, have actually read the material, and I can always do at least decently. I’m struggling more in college than I did in previous schooling (and currently taking a break to focus on transition) but that has more to do with differing expectations than the academic aspect — I can still get by with little or no studying.
Yeah! As a DoA reader first who’s now reading It’s Walky as Willis updates it here for the first time, it’s cool to see that their friendship seems to be somewhat of a universal constant.
Thursday? More like Thursday last year.

I’ve also had dreams about school, but those involved…Maths *shudders*. I really didn’t like Maths.

I’ve had “we made a mistake, you’re have to come back” nightmares ever since I graduated.
Ignore the 《’re》

Heck, I’ve had dreams where I was back in high school, rubbing elbows with frigging teenagers!

No no there’s plenty of alien tech. I’m sure she can still make it right guys… Guys. A
I like walky folding his arms and looking away in the last panel.
Its kind of sweet that despite a the shit he gives her Joe is genuinely really happy to see Joyce.
Aww, these two. <3 Probably one of the best MxF platonic relationships in webcomics. I love how organically their friendship evolved.

I’m not gonna lie; while the Walky/Joyce relationship was developed quite well, I honestly still kinda ship her with Joe.
She’s getting it back!
