In 25 years

- it’s okay he can use that word about himself
- Yeah, the “25 years later” thing was definitely me giving myself another way in, in case I ever wanted to come back to this universe. I figured these characters were spent, but maybe if/whenever I wanted to come back, I could write about their kids. Instead, about six years later, I decided to reboot them as college students, and I’m quite happy with that swerve. Ask me again in 2029, I guess.
- gotta love a good callback
Eh I don’t mind call backs but this on felt like it was shoe-horned in, but I don’t mind it.
Also I’m kind of glad you went with the DoA rebbot instead.
I also feel like has a “independence day” vibe to and then I wonder if the Walkyverse predates the first “Independence day” it certainly predates the second.
It for the most part doesn’t. This strip, as recounted below, ran in 2004.
A comic about their kids doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
I don’t know, giving it the boruto treatment might not work out.
it would have…if he didn’t destroy their world in SP!
He only might have destroyed their world.
Soggies may rule.
(Plus, we did get that one flash-forward featuring an older Leslie and Robin with their now-teenage kids, featuring a statue of the Sogmaster in the background…)
I’d be ok with you doing a comic about their kids, though I’m liking DoA reboot right now too.
I never really noticed how much shorter the Head Alien/Martian portion of the finale is compared to the assault on SEMME. Then again, the former is broken up with mothership segments, so.
*Latter, blah

Oh right that universe is pretty much fucked…unless they do some time travel bullshiting and undo that.
Robin’s kids undo the damage, the “future kids” who come to the past from an alternate future trying to undo the damage accidentally overshoot the time period setting up that storyline…
I will ask you again in 2029. While I’ve enjoyed DoA and SP (the former more than the latter), I’d really like to see you taking another stab at the action/sci-fi genre.
Since the Martians don’t realize the time stream has been changed, they come back in 2029 to the DOA universe.
Eh, we all know in 2029, you’ll maybe be wrapping up freshman year.
Wait so how did the Soggies handle the return of the Martians
My presumption has now long been (ie since he had kids) that if Mr. Willis were going to come back to this “25 years later” entry point it won’t be before his kids are at the very least in school and more realistically not before they’re 10 to 12. That’s quite a nice timetable should he decide to do it, since I’d expect such a comic to start with some cleanup of the Soggies from the end of Shortpacked! and a preparatory training arc for the kids before the Martians turn up around 25 years after the original publication date of this strip.
So is THAT the actual reason why it had to be Walky or Sal to assume control of the Cheese? Anyone else would still have David brand Cheese’s inability to touch or use the Power Booster Rod?
Gotta be part Martian to be able to touch it, apparently.
Or a dog?
That dog’s from Mars
2029? Good to know! My kid will just be heading off to college. (Assuming we avoid WWIII, and our economy hasn’t tanked to all hell.)
I think a comic about the next generation would probably be one of the best options for another Walkyverse series. You wouldn’t have to worry too much about cast overlap because those kids will never exist in the Dumbiverse.
