Joe being Joe, nothing unusual here.
Whiplash lawsuits: for when you get floored by your friends saying something completely outrageous!
Is Danny consulting this idea with his dick in panel 1 and 2? >.> Of course he is.
Much as I rip on Roomies, and I will never ever ever ever ever stop, the Danny/Billie stuff was genuinely great.
Even if it starts as fairly well torn ground, with the stuck up nice guy and the troubled party girl hooking up and balancing each other out, they just play off of each other really well. It’s one of the “easier” main relationships in Willis’ career (and on a side note, I like how Willis never makes relationships in his comics easy, and doesn’t treat romance as a colourful pair of tassels and a sex voucher) but it works, and later on when we see what that relationship means to Billie, I buy that it’s something she’d fight to protect.
Agreed, and that’s also made it tolerable to read over in hindsight, no matter how Danny the situation may have been.
Well ya I mean if he didn’t Billie may kill him.
I first interpreted this as Joe tripping over something because he was distracted checking someone out, and then this somehow being the impetus for what Danny says. I’m not entirely sure how that works.
“Because she tried to strangle me last night, and by God, you should be *married* before you try to murder your spouse.”
“I mean, we’re sleeping in the same bed every night, last night she even asphyxiated me some, and I can’t hit that until we’re married, or I’m going to Hell. Definitely gonna hafta marry her.”
*Joe dies of eyerolling*
Are we supposed to be thinking that they still aren’t having sex, even though they are two 21 year olds who are sharing a bed who are also really, really into each other?
(I’m trying to seperate how I see it, from how 2001-DW would see it, from how Danny the character sees it.)
It’s Danny, of course they’re still not having sex.
I assumed Danny was speaking out of a sense of conventional responsibility. He wants to do the conventionally responsible “adult” thing and marry his girlfriend now that he’s going to “the real world”.
Typical Joe, if he’s typical.
As in Dumbing of Age, the ‘M’ word is Joe’s kryptonite!
Alternate title: WA-AAGH
Joe just doesn’t understand his friends’ bisexual ways. He needs Joyce, the only person who understands him.
Eh, I have a hard time applying DoA!Danny’s sexuality to Roomies Danny.
Like, I’m not suddenly going to declare Roomies the first webcomic with a bisexual male protagonist.
Children, today were going to learn what a retcon is!
I know what a retcon is, but it has no impact on Roomies and I’m not suddenly going to pretend it was more diverse than it was.
Sure, now we know that Roomies Danny was always bi, J&W! Becky was always gay, and that IW! Dina was always bi or pan, but it had no impact on the characters we knew then, and it doesn’t inform anything new about their characters now because they weren’t written with that in mind.
Nah, it’s can’t be a Peanuts take – his shoes and socks are still on…

I'm so excited for a webcomic that's not about being drunk and depressed!
