Everyone loves a good Sluggy Freelance reference, right?
*summons the lynch mob by stating I have never read it*
(no really, so many things to read T_T SO MANYYYYYYY)
Well no time like the present, right? I mean, there’s only like 22 straight years of it! And only about half of those were 7 days a week!
After 15 years or so as a Sluggy reader, I quit reading it a couple years ago after he switched to the new site. I missed a couple days because I was traveling, and then discovered that I couldn’t catch up because the archive was completely unusable.
Just say no to infinite scrolling.
Not to imagine the unreal lag it has on mobile. Who designed that thing, anyway?
(the RSS feed helps in avoiding it)
Same. I’m actually pretty mad about that still.
gah, yeah.
New site LOOKS nicer, but it sucks for anything other than seeing the current comic, and the multi-layered border is cool, but it takes a few minutes more to actually load things.
Still love the comic though.
And it only rates TV Tropes’ highest level of continuity lock-in. But, hey, just read a bit at a time, you’ll catch up eventually. Worth it, I promise.
Eventually. Maybe. Assuming you maintain a heart-healthy diet, have good health insurance, and don’t smoke.
I didn’t think it was that bad. Then again, I started many years ago. Plus, I’m the kind of lunatic who’s read Atlas Shrugged more than once. So, YMMV.
I… think I read some of it… at some point?
I can’t actually remember what that one’s about. Hm.
Sluggy Freelance is kinda a grab-bag of all genres.
Slice of life to Alien conspiracies to HP spoofs to corporate schemes to interdimensional travel to government spooks to magic apocalypsES.
It kinda goes all over, but there’s generally a consistent through-line that makes it fun to read. At least my 15-y.o. self thought it was, why I binged through…… all that.
The archive’s…. big.
Like All of the current DoA + Roomies + IW + JW sized.
**finds webpage**
**peeks in archive – at first book, then three other books from early to recent**
Oh. Yeah, no, I never read more than a page or two of this before – because I didn’t care for it.
Sorry Sluggy fans – it just isn’t my jam.
Oh, just the usual stuff. Magic, robots, vampires, aliens and a rabbit who wants to kill Santa Claus.
Nobody sane is going to lynch you for not reading a 20+ year archive. Especially since it has… shall we say, inconsistent quality throughout the years. The early stuff was kinda bad, and it’s almost completely required to understand (or at least properly appreciate) any of the good stuff.
I claim immunity on the grounds that it’s not even listed in all the webcomics links on the right here –>, so really, how much can Willis actually want us to read it?
Penny Arcade’s still there, and I don’t think Willis particularly wants to to read that anymore.
I don’t blame you, since you’d have an over-20 year archive to get through. I’ve been reading Sluggy Freelance for close to 10 years, and while I like it, I’m probably not gonna re-read the whole archive from the first strip anytime soon.
What’s with Joyce and Walky! and Sal showing up at Walky’s apartment?
I can’t believe Cheese just dropped off Sal’s corpse like that.
I know they’re doctors in this timeline, but they’re not miracle workers!
I think this is about six years into Roomies/Joyce starting college so they cannot possibly be.
Also, didn’t Dorothy turn out to be sort of a burn-out after college in 616?
separate timeline, separate outcome
I think we’re back to a non-upscaled original here.
