Okay, so I would have said “Fuck you Danny!” anyway, just on principle, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t earn it this time.
Given that Ultracar is clearly sentient, “thing” is a bit rude, but I wouldn’t necessarily call it a misgender. Considering that the person in question is currently a truck and that trucks generally don’t have genitals or reproduce sexually, I wouldn’t automatically expect such a person to even have a gender in the human sense. I certainly wouldn’t have any idea how to identify their gender. So Danny doesn’t really have any way to know that Ultracar identifies as female at this point. Now, if he fails to respect that identity after he’s been made aware of, then fine, fuck him.
From Danny’s perspective it’s been his truck for years, but Ultra Car’s body for just the last 5 minutes. That’s quite a bit of of mental inertia to overcome.
If you can’t turn your wheels into vertical thrusters/repulsorlilft generators, then you’re not the car of the future. Back to the Future taught me that.
