CLUNK!
on October 22, 2015 at 12:01 amChapter: It's Walky!/Melonpool Crossover
Characters: David Walkerton, Jalea Bates, Joyce Brown, Mayberry Melonpool, Ralphie Zinobop, Sal Walters
Location: Island in the Bermuda Triangle #3
If I recall, Steve Troop really wanted to get his characters into some Alien helmets for disguise, escorting in their “captives” Star Wars-style. So here we go!
So even if we don’t know what the aliens look like, at least the characters do. Wonder how big a Taco Bell gift card we’d need to provide Walky with for him to draw us a sketch.
how butt a taco would we have to provide
New headcanon: The butt-taco IS the sketch.
My god… this changes everything
Walky can’t be trusted with things like that. He’d put weird gross made-up things like nostrils on the sketches just to mess with people.
well now I HAVE to know what they look like under the helmets!
unless they melted like after drinking from a fake Holy Grail then n/m I’m good
I always assumed Earth’s atmosphere was toxic to them or the wrong pressure or something so if the helmet came off they exploded. It’d explain why their “whole body” was listed as their weakness in SEMME training.
Isn’t that how HA 2 dies? They crack open his helmet with a rock or a bagel or something?
With a brick. Also every time we see those helmets break smoke comes billowing out so it’s almost definitely an atmosphere thing. (Or maybe their bodies sublimate upon contact with our air.)
Actually, it has something to do with Jiffy-Pop. But, I’m not allowed to say what.
I still like to think that those aren’t actually helmets, and they’re wearing hollowed-out Alien heads now.
“Those aren’t the Semme agents you are looking for.”
It’s funny how Steve Troop drew Sal frowning for most of the Crossover.
Honestly, that’s just keeping her in character.
Ah yes, “AIEEYA”, a classic Troopism.
Jalea has charmed Walky. Sal did scowl a lot in the Walkyverse, so keeping her in character sounds right.
Exploding aliens, HA would be an major explosion I’d guess.
I’m amazed by all the TV/Film references I crammed into this strip…
Panel 1: Mayberry’s line are Kirk’s at words when he dies in “Generations.”
Panel 4: Mayberry’s line is about The Flintstones. Ralph’s is a lift from Star Wars.
Panel 5: A bit from the Brady Bunch where Peter and Jan keep accidentally swapping their lines in a school play.
Panel 6: Daffy Duck in “Rabbit Seasoning”.
Or was I the only one who thought that?
Missed that one when I was typing it up — yeah that was a ref to “Rabbit Seasoning.”
Plus the whole strip was very Star Wars– fake prisoner transfer, insulting the cool ship…
I’m a bit surprised you didn’t have Mayberry respond “She’ll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts!”
I like a lot of things in this strip, but the “who goes there”/”hark” part is what got an audible chuckle out of me.
Don’t they need those helmets to *survive*?
I have finally realized my OTP is Jalea and Beef.
For some reason, it’s hilarious that one of the goons is going “HARK”
Also, when I was young I thought “boob” was a bad word and didn’t say it ’cause I was super scared of saying bad words, like “butt” and “shit” and soforth. I wonder if 2001-era David Willis would’ve shyed away from “boob”, too, even though this is a pretty chaste old-timey way of using it to call someone a buffoon, nincompoop, etc.
