A guy who says he got eaten.

Characters: David Walkerton, Dorothy Keener
Location: mall food court
The “always a little ambidextrous” bit is to cover my ass for all the times I drew Walky left-handed cuz I tended to favor panel composition.
I keep track these days.
I don’t think Walky knows what “classified” means.
he didn’t sign the NDA
He was probably in the Tube the day the guv’ment came around and made everyone sign the NDAs.
Shadowy MiB: “You didn’t see anything.”
Joyce: “Kowalski? Is that you? Or is it Skipper? Where is Rico and the Private?”
that’s pretty on point for a member of SEMME
They fought a “””classified””” alien invasion
Because people are deaf or something idk
… huh. I remember the mirroring thing coming up with HA before, but I never really thought much more about it. Does this mirroring extend to their DNA?
I mostly wonder because both Mike and Walky end up having kids… is mirroring something that can be passed on genetically? Do the kids have like a 50/50 shot which side of their body their heart ends up on?
Was curious on that myself. Willis we need answers! Is Donna left or right hearted?!
Eh. Having his DNA as a molecule mirrored would not alter the sequence of his genes, so Joyce’s right-side-around reproductive system wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Either that, or it would have trouble unwinding the helix, or transpose all Walky’s A’s to T’s and C’s to G’s, and thus fail to produce any viable offspring. Which is demonstrably not the case.
Also, mirroring Walky on the molecular level would make the proteins that make him up wind the opposite way than the proteins that are available to us as food. He would be unable to digest anything bought from a store or indeed anything that was not made from scratch specifically for him.
Remember that Linda was regrown in a tube, so her organs were flipped while Walky was born normally, which means it’s likely an acquired, non-heritable characteristic.
Or they just forged some medical records saying he has dextrocardia
Or situs inversus, if it’s all of his organs switched.
So if he dies again he can get flipped back around to normal
A lot of effort for very little payoff.
I think it’s a good joke either way though, as if being ambidextrous would also cover for having your organs swap.
Y’know, I know I read these strips back when the first went out, but I don’t think I ever actually processed the fact that the martians actually ATE their victims. It definitely makes Joe’s “dunno if we’ll ever find enough of them to clone” line make a lot more sense.
Mike was recreated from a bloodstained shirt, and Walky from… a reserve of his genetic material. I guess as long as there’s enough trace DNA to build off of, the Martian technology works?
Does this mean there’s a finite number of Martians in existence, or do they just refuse to let any of their comrades die in war?
