If I recall correctly, that stuff was just more of “what’s Joe up to,” whereas this story specifically resolves a dangling plot thread from Joyce and Walky.
I think we’re following Joyce/Walky/and/or/Mike primarily
Joe was less prominent, but also that Ultra-Car storyline seems a bit jarring to just throw into this run, idk, most of the setup is primarily in Shortpacked!
This Man, This Manhattan was described specifically as ‘basically an It’s Walky story in Shortpacked’ (romantic melodrama, honey bun, cameo from Jason.)
The second one is following up on a certain plot point from J&W’s wedding along with explaining a plot point from early Shortpacked, but needs a little bit of context before we really dive in, it seems. In both cases it’s got a lot to do with the themes and tone as much as the characters involved, and the one we’re leading up to is very much a coda to Joyce & Walky! as well as arguably the climax of Shortpacked. (I could also make a case for the last wedding as an emotional climax, but. I mean. I’ll save that post for later.)
@Needfuldoer: Speaking of putting things succinctly – yes that.
Most of the Walkyverse characters found their most authentic selves in the Dumbverse, but not Robin.
Wow. I really miss Robin. Compared to the shallow idiot playing professor in yesterday’s comic…
Same. I was expecting Leslie NOPEs since I frankly think of both arcs as the same storyline under that name (which I personally prefer to the second chunk of it’s name,) but it’s neat that we’re also getting the leadup to that as well.
Please consider yourself upvoted. (Fun fact: Ed O’Neill has a black belt in Brazilian jujitsu. I’ve seen a photo of him wearing his gi with a hand down his pants.)
wait shouldn’t the stuff with Joe’s company in Shortpacked have been posted here before as well?

is he (currently) one of those guys who has a hole in his pocket so to be able to jerk off while keeping his pants on
I’m sorry what
Aw jeez, I miss Shortpacked.
Likewise.
Plus, gotta say, I love Robin’s face in that last panel.
This is the Robin I fell in love with. There are occasional glimpses of her in DoA, but mostly buried beneath awfulness.
I was actually writing a comment at the beginning about Walkyverse/Dumbiverse Robin, but I think you put it more succinctly than I could myself.
Yup. For me the Dumbiverse has the “real” versions of most of the characters, but this is still the “real” Robin.

This version of Robin is definitely my favorite of the two.
Yep. I love DoA, but my heart’s with the toy store.
Oooh, we’re getting this arc too! Wasn’t expecting that, though this is good contextual setup for the one I was expecting to begin tonight.

… I’m not sure how sticking one’s hand into one’s pants would be considered casual.
By being Joe, perpetual horndog alone in a supply closet with a lady.
It worked for Al Bundy …

Thank you for sharing this
It’s certainly not formal.
I don’t think now’s the time for “casual sex”.
Have you met (Walkyverse) Joe?
I knew that, but…yeah.
if there’s time travel shenanigans involved, it’s causal sex.
God, he really does look like Richard.
I’m still convinced Richard is just Joe from the future.
I would make a comment about this, but I think I will not for the moment. Maybe in a few weeks.
*Caw caw*
Oh dang, I love this arc.
