When are you leaving?
on January 30, 2014 at 12:01 amChapter: Girls at the Door
Characters: Danny Wilcox, Jennifer Billingsworth
Location: Danny's parents' house
“When are you leaving” is the passive-aggressive way to say “How long are you staying?”
Oh, Billie’s absentee parents. Will we ever see you unsilhouetted? I really don’t know. Fifteen years later, I fear there might be too much mystique to deflate.
At least she’s not drowning her sorrows in alcohol and one night stands. Danny’s the healthy option.
I dunno. I really liked how Ruth and Howard’s dad turned out to just be Howard with slightly poofier hair and a goatee.
I’m not even being sarcastic. These are just people, y’know? It doesn’t have to be some big thing.
Maybe they aren’t people.
Dun dun dunnnnnn
Maybe the Martians aren’t all dead after all.
They live on a yacht, so maybe they are … a mast and a safety wheel?
You can’t fool me, Willis, I know the truth! I know that Mr. Billingsworth has a third eye in the middle of his forehead!
Wrong comic, that is Atomic Laudromat.
“I fear there might be too much mystique to deflate.”
What, like Dr. Claw? We know how that ended.
Mr. Billingsworth is Doctor Claw.
YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST FOLKS
I thought Sir Willis said it Mr. Billingsworth was Mystique?
“There was this one kid I used to hang out with in the summers, but he and his twin brother sorta vanished a year or so ago.”
“And you killed my girlfr- I mean other friend.”
So Billie has caring parents too.
Eh, I think it’s not so much mystique as the fact that their badness is only emphasized by their absence, as opposed to bad parents like Blaine who we have to see a bit from to hate.
No seriously, Blaine was far less loathsome when he was actually obeying the police orders to stay far, far away from Amber and Stacy. At least, as far as we know he was obeying them?
Apparently, amoung my mother’s relatives in Ireland it is common to greet visitors with: “Hello! So, when will you be leaving, then?”
…..I’m imagining Mike’s Parents, but with money. Lots of money. And a lot less sincerity.
