What’re you DOING?!
on July 14, 2016 at 12:01 amI’ve told this story before, but I’m gonna tell it again!
This is a true story! We were in art school, and one weekend night I got dragged along to a dance club. I am not a dancer. Like, there is barely enough alcohol in the world to get me on a dance floor. But we’d put just enough into our pal Rich, and he went out there and, by himself, in the corner, he decided the best dancing that would attract the ladies would be to do martial arts moves. And we’re staring at him, because what.
Anyway, I eventually adapted Rich as “Ninja Rick” for Shortpacked!. Dude is/was kinda a weeaboo.
Dancing comics are the best. From Watterson to the end of time.
Unless the song Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas just came on (or possibly Turning Japanese by the vapors), that is not the correct dance.
Gotta be Kung Fu Fighting.
If I’m not mistaken, he’s doing the Batusi
He has high chances of becoming a great detective.
The last “panel” (there aren’t exactly panels in this strip) is clearly the Crane position from “Karate Kid”.
It’s a dance move that, if performed correctly, no woman can defend against it.
Somehow I haven’t read that story before. Nowwww I knowwww.
I assumed for a moment that the anecdote was about your own dancing. Now I’m kinda disappointed that was about someone else. Joe’s fending for himself pretty well here, I think. At least that last move is ridiculous enough to count as a legit dance move.
The true origin of Ninja Rick-san! I thought it would remain a secret to me forever!
The art really is pretty great in this one.
Yeah, this is one of my favorite It’s Walky strips.
I’m torn. On one hand it’s probably not likely to get a complete 1-1 to Joe and Joyce’s interactions here in DoA, on the other hand, can that please please please please happen?
He dances like Mac from Always Sunny.
Just bob on your knees and do the gun reload animations from various video games.
Cool story.
Ninja Joe!
