I’ve seen Drunk Mike before, but he kinda weirds me out in this strip. Maybe it’s just the fact that he’s saying grace, when Mike has never seemed very religious to me.
“And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.”
–1 Samuel 1:14-15
My family never prayed before meals, and I’ve never really been in a situation where it’s been required, but praying before a meal with coworkers* just seems deeply weird to me, like it’d be odd even among people who do pray before meals.

I was like, is it Thanksgiving already? ’cause that’s the only time I ever hear anybody pray, if even then

Oh, are we coming up on the deeply personal religious comics?

Oh but he is religious, only that we don’t know what religion he practices, we only know that it involves sacrificing puppies.
You were dumped because you weren’t perpetually drunk? Seems like you got the better end of the deal. <_<
For some reason his praying before the meal kinda feels like shade to me..

Eh. You got a much better girlfriend because of it.
Amen to that. If you’d kept her (who dumps their boyfriend on their birthday?!?) there’d be no Maggie, no twinlets…
I, uh, believe he’s referring to Walky here, who Dina dumped on his birthday. Not… not himself.
Funny, I thought Dina was an atheist in this AU as well.
Not all atheists are militant about grace practices.

I think people are thinking that the alt-text is from the author, rather than Walky, looking at the comments lol

…Oof. Well I take it it’s not the lesbian one.
