Could also just be for consistency with the comics printed at the time. I think swear words are censored pretty much throughout all of IW! and I think it’s for this reason.

Well at least Danny has a personality trait that can be emphasized. That’s more than what can be said for what he was like before.
Man, Danny’s so much more enjoyable as a character when his judge mental ass-ness is intentional instead of the narrative thinking he’s right.
