OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS, YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY BELIEVE HOW CRAZY MY WEEKEND HAS BEEN

And one final strip from Shortpacked! Land before we move on to this rerun site’s FINAL STORY.
Hey, Ethan, it’s me from the future. There’ll be a Unicron at least twice the mass as that Metroplex and it’ll also have articulated pupils. And it’ll take an afternoon to transform.
Ah, so we’re moving straight on to “The Last Roomies! Story Ever, I Promise” from Book 2?
Looks like it! Really interested on the commentary for that one, since I really like it and I think it did a really good job recontextualizing some of the problems with Roomies’ character arcs, for as short as it is. Doesn’t mean there isn’t one particular line that kinda bugs me, though. Take a wild guess which character says it.
(hint: it’s danny)
So it’s almost time for Bring Back Bring Back Roomies?
So…. what next?
What comes next? You’ve been freed,
Do you know how hard it is to lead?
You’re on your own; awesome! Wow!
Do you have a clue what happens now?
Oceans rise, empires fall;
It’s much harder when it’s all your call…
“You’re on your own”
I don’t like being on my own… :/
Bring Back “Shortpacked!” in HD 😛
Figures that this is what we close the shortpacked strip with. More than anything else I miss this version of Ethan.
I was wondering the last few days with that ‘Shortpacked story ends December 16th’ if I was somehow forgetting a strip or if we were getting the Articulated Pupils bit. Glad to see one last Toy Jokes bit for the road!
Truly, the way to a Transformers fan’s heart: Articulated pupils.
I dunno, you don’t see Unicron’s pupils as well as you see Metroplex’s ones.
That is pretty impressive
Oh, hi Non-Emothan.
I’ve missed this fucking goober so much.
At this point, I’m pretty sure I prefer Walkyverse Ethan over the Ethan we’ve currently got over in DoA.
I’ve really loved this whole thing.
Is there a reason why we aren’t doing the same retrospective stuff for all of Shortpacked?
Give it 4 years and Shortpacked! will be 20 years old. Maybe then.
Though half this commentary would just be explaining why this joke about a toy was funny in 2006, or “sorry about this rape joke I made decades ago.” Not quite as interesting as some of the stuff here.
If we were doing a Shortpacked rerun I’d think it would work best if it skipped over a lot of the one-off gags and just covered the storylines.
I think a big reason Willis had for this whole repost, according to what I’ve read, was that the original materials were presented poorly (small resolutions, missing strips, and a more random than chronological order) on website(s) that are becoming increasingly outdated. Shortpacked! presents a relatively stand-alone story that is already in the right order on a relatively modern website, so Willis sees no need to repost it.
Having done my first readthrough before this site went up, can confirm, was a decrepit fucking pain even before accounting for the fact that the J&W! paid strips were only available via a series of links Willis would email you when you purchased the subscription strips which you therefore had to save.
But why do pupils need to be articulated?
I mean, I can think of at least one use for articulated pupils right off the top of my head.

(Said puppet doesn’t actually have articulated pupils, but the idea expressed in the meme would be way more easily accomplished if it did.)
