This gonna sound horrible but…
It isn’t completely unmerited.
She kept him on an altered-mind state for days to take advantage of him.
I mean, jesus, invert the genders here and she’s almost as bad as Ryan in the DoAverse.
I’d honestly say its worse than what ryan did… he only tried it for a one night stand, and as horrible as that is, dina’s been effectivly roofying mike every day for weeks
I’m assuming you’re keeping up with the DoA comics, too? Everything Joyce has explained as to what upset her in the recent strips can be applied to what Dina is doing to Mike. To me what really makes it worse for Mike is that no one is helping him. Not that trauma is a game to one-up people at. Both situations are horrible.
Back of the head. It’s hard to gauge level of violence in a comic, but IRL? That puts anyone down. Now, they won’t stay down unless you hit hard enough to do some serious brain damage, but that’s true of any blow.
I figured that was implied by “serious brain damage”. For anyone reading this, yeah, movies have lied to you, there’s no such thing as a minor blow to the head.
and there’s not really any ‘might’ – this is a relationship where one party forces mind altering substances on the other to change their behaviour then takes advantage of them over a long period of time. Abusive doesn’t begin to cover it…
I don’t know if anyone else has brought this up yet on this site, but is Mike really that awful of a person in It’s Walky?
Sometimes I see people argue “It’s just Mike” when bad things happen to him. But, like, what has Mike actually done that warrants him to be refused justice?
The worst thing he ever did was apparently try to maim/kill Joyce’s dog, and I’m not 100% convinced on how serious that was.
He also stomped on a toddler or otherwise-very-young child at a pacifist rally post-9/11, just so that he could call those at the rally “hypocrites” when he got beat up for it as a result.
Also, y’know, in this strip, he just tried to inflict almost-definitely lethal force on someone. As horrible as Dina’s actions are here, I still kinda think strangling her and then punching her so hard her head explodes is a bit over the line.
I dunno, I mean she’s been basically forcibly keeping him brainwashed.
I still like Dina, because characters can make really really bad decisions and do awful things and still be sympathetic, but I honestly don’t think anyone can blame Mike at this moment for being in full combat rage mode.
I’m conflicted. As I’ve mentioned in other comments, Mike did basically manipulate Dina into breaking up with Walky, and despite wanting a relationship with her, never acted any differently. Dina was going to crack from the strain Mike had on her self-esteem, if nothing else. But drugging Mike into niceness is still wrong, and Dina knew that.
Well, yeah, but the one in Shortpacked! ended happily.
i feel like that says something about you, unconsciously
Damn, Mike looked like he was going to kill Dina or beat her to a pulp.. Glad Walky was there to stop him.

Not horrible at all. If Walky wasn’t there and Mike beat her up, I’d have nothing wrong with that, after all she deserves it.
I’d honestly say its worse than what ryan did… he only tried it for a one night stand, and as horrible as that is, dina’s been effectivly roofying mike every day for weeks
He only tried it for Rape. I know what you’re trying to say, but rape isn’t a one night stand, even if it’s only once.
What she’s been doing is emotional rape. It’s the same damn thing.

Wait, Walky one-shotted Mike with a punch to the shoulder? How does that even work?
Think it was to the back of the head.

Actually, one punch to the back of the head can be fatal. We call it the “Coward’s Punch” down under
I figured that was implied by “serious brain damage”. For anyone reading this, yeah, movies have lied to you, there’s no such thing as a minor blow to the head.

Mike must secretly be a transformer.
Vulcan nerve punch
Sal and Walky (and Tony) are explicitly portrayed as exceptional Abductees
As much as I love Dina she deserved something for that. Not to be choked but definitely something!
This Dina deserves no love. Save it for her DoA incarnation.
Fair point, more for the Dino lover!
… As awful as her behavior in this storyline is, I really honestly kind of hate you for saying that. And no, I’m not using that word too loosely.
I think you’ve done enough Dina.
Mike’s stories often involve punching too.
Or nickels paid for services rendered.
Honestly, I’m a little surprised Mike’s mad at Dina, rather than proud of her descent to the dark side.
“Congratulations Dina, you’re a
bloodbendermanipulator.”Dina might somehow have ended up in an abusive relationship where the drunk violent person isn’t the abuser.
to be fair, mike isn’t violent when he’s drunk
and there’s not really any ‘might’ – this is a relationship where one party forces mind altering substances on the other to change their behaviour then takes advantage of them over a long period of time. Abusive doesn’t begin to cover it…
Okay, so I don’t usually go for these, but this one was just WAY too on the nose…
Why, you f-word!
CLUNK!
Thanks for joining us, Ms. Brown
Have you seen Mike at all in the past few days?
W-Walkerton?!
With that context, this sounds like a bunch of ladies are lining up behind Mike in disapproval of Dina’s actions:
Ah hope you’re disgusted with yourself
Girls — Tackle!
Here she comes.
Your sorry rear!

…well, sure, but how many of those stories involve Walky going after the barf?
(runs away)

Well, yeah. But that toddler was an asshole.

They kind of deserve each other, really.
