The first few months working at safeway, I was required to wear a tie (you only got to pass on the tie if you had a company logo shirt). I became very good at tying it.
Once I got to stop wearing them, though, the knowledge of how I tied them quickly fled. I couldn’t properly tie a tie to save my life.
I (a woman!) got very good at tying a tie for myself when I went to a British boarding school.
That was, however, 25 years ago, and I have literally no idea at this time how the hell ties work for myself or other people. I would have to resort to youtube or other internet resources to tie one.
I learned how to tie a tie when I was like five, and I’m a girl, and none of my school uniforms required a tie.
… I only learned because for some reason my five-year old mind demanded that my dad absolutely HAD to teach me how to do this. To this day I’m not entirely sure why.
I don’t even bother wearing ties anymore. I used to always wear the same clip-on when I had to wear a tie years ago. I don’t believe I’ve ever learned how to tie a tie.
My brother didn’t know how to tie a tie either. I did one for him for his high school grad, and he just loosed the knot enough to get the tie over his head. 10 years later he still had the knot tied. I wouldn’t be surprised if he still has it. Next time I visit I am going to check.
I liked the small nods that Beef was still involved in the Walkerton household.
“Walky tried to help Sal get away which nearly resulted in my murder” would probably end up an awkward topic of conversation, though.
“oh yea? well, why the heck do you call me ‘walky’? also, since when can you talk? and why isn’t this all happening off-panel?”
I like to think that Beef is a really dedicated poet on his downtime.
To be fair, his parents also calls him walkerton…
does walky have a first name at this point in time, or was this before his parents gave him one and just stick with the surname?
A young man stands in his bedroom. Though it was twenty-one years ago that he was given life, it is only today that he will be given a name.
give it time, joyce. you may envy him less
Walky can’t even tie his own shoes, so I certainly wouldn’t expect him to tie a tie.
He should wear a bow tie like Jason, though a pre-tied or clip on, not a self tie.
Fortunately for us, he doesn’t know any better than to try.
His inner monologue was right all along: The ties were coming for him!

Also,
It took me several years, but now I only have to retie my tie three times now to get it moderately good.

I learned kinda quickly when I had to cosplay Adrian Seidelman and/or Rocky Rickaby
(look, my job went into mad overtime, I cut corners where I can)

His name is David Walkerton so I call him Walky.
Well this hits harder after DoA Book 10…
