I can’t grab it.

Trying to imagine what 13 more Short Circuit movies be about. The first one was about YAY NONVIOLENCE and the second one was about DANGIT VIOLENCE IS SOMETIMES NECESSARY TO ASSERT THE RIGHTS OF THE MARGINALIZED IN A SOCIETY THAT HOLDS THEM WITH LITTLE TO NO REGARD, so would it just, like, zigzag back and forth between those extremes thirteen more times, or
A cosmos without Robin DeSanto scarcely bears thinking about…
No. Not THE mind wiper.
Maybe it just continually escalates the violence levels.
Short Circuit 3: Look Who’s Uploading!
Short Circuit 4: Three Robots and an AI
Short Circuit 5+: [basically running through Questionable Content at this point]
Short Circuit 7: The Bot Awakens
Short Circuit 8: The Last Johnny
Short Circuit 9: The Rise of NOVA
Short Circuit 10 is a crossover with Air Bud, and its take on violence and nonviolence MAY surprise you!
Short Circuit 11 is a soft reboot of Short Circuit that portrays most of the same characters from Short Circuit onward with a new cast, but gets away with the rebooting by including a few of the original actors and saying that 11 is “set in a parallel universe” to the preceding ten films.
Short Circuit 12 is actually a reboot/sequel to Short Circuit 3 and continues the storyline, but has the same title as the original and a cameo from the original movie.
Short Circuit 13 was directed by a pre-The Room Tommy Wiseau and threatened to killed the entire franchise. SC14 and 15 came out in 2005 and 2006 respectively to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original and put everything right again. They even brought back Steve Guttenberg and Ally Sheedy!
And Short Circuit 16 is basically Wall-e.
Ain’t no rule that a dog CAN’T commit violence in an AI fighting ring!
How many sequels does it take before they ditch the extremely offensive Indian caricature, or does the short circuit franchise become a rallying point for right-wing people angry about political correctness and become the new pepe
Given my understanding of this universe, I think neither. It’ll just kinda go unexamined for all 15 entries and nobody will be particularly bothered.
Hank Azaria didn’t step down as Apu until 2015, so assuming one Short Circuit every two years, it’d probably be the sixteenth film that ditches the brownface.
Some extra numbers! This strip ran in January 2013, about 27 years after the first Short Circuit and 25 years after the second. So to get fifteen sequels there would have had to be a couple annual releases in there. (Until proven otherwise I’ll assume that somewhere in there is just, like, Short Circuit’s Land Before Time VIII where we’ve completely lost everything that made the original film compelling and all tonal and thematic ties to previous films and even the kids in the audience who were enraptured up to this point are starting to find this excessive.) So… possibly the next film, possibly they’re still a couple out because direct-to-video (well, PROBABLY DVD) isn’t dead in this universe yet and so they’re just churning out whatever on an annual release cycle.
Three words: “King Johnnie Five”
I could see them going the route of Johnny 5 having a kid/multiple kids, to further his pursuit for personhood. You also can get a sequel out of some evil version of Johnny. Maybe Johnny 5 going to space?
I wonder if they keep the gold coating, or if he’s just looking like his usual self in the sequesl without explanations.
In one of the sequels he has a red arm. This is commented on once but never explained, and then in the later sequels it’s back to normal.
But did Ultra Car manages to pirate all those before the end of this story line???
She downloaded them to her hard drive and took them home. She’s advanced enough, she can multitask while doing whatever she needs to in this storyline.
I always wondered what this meant for Galasso. Perhaps his special ability is just being Galasso?
I think I’ve only ever seen the first Short Circuit movie, many years ago. I thought it was kinda funny, but never really got around to watching the second one.
