From now on.
on January 1, 2019 at 1:01 amChapter: Unfinished Business
Characters: Anthony McHenry, Bart O'Ryan, David Walkerton, George W Bush, Joyce Brown, Linda Walkerton, Lith, Sarah Clinton
Panel 1: Ha ha ha they’re taking down the E first, meaning at this exact moment, as the lower portion of the letter is below the window, it’d look like it says SEMMF again. This was intentional. I’m the worst.
Panel 2: Ah, the “no dialtone” thing was me, after all. SEMME Central Computer’s down, which is why the phone wasn’t working. It was a plot point.
Panel 3: hey remember when presidential administrations cared about looking bad
Panel 4: hey remember when you didn’t have a constant stream of news flowing to you every single second through your internet phone
those were good times, huh
Wait, the tags identify this as Bush senior? Isn’t this supposed to be 2003?
an alternate universe in which Herbert Walker decided to give it one last go, and resulted in a slightly less nightmarish world than the one we actually got
Wouldn’t he have to be in his fourth term if he were still the prez in 2003?
Would be non consecutive. Clinton was already established as being the president in the 90s in the walkyverse.
And he had the right to serve another term if elected, so unless Willis made an error in his tag he ran again for his second term and won.
So it’s like Grover Cleveland, serving two separate four year terms with a different president in-between.
That is definitely a picture of Bush Jr. I remember thinking when this page went up how strange it was to see the words “drunken fraternity” next to his face and not have them be about him.
wider face and bigger ears…how cartoonists have lambasted W for years
Yeah, I recognized panel 3 as ol’ Dubya right away. It’s a good representation without political cartoon levels of caricature.
I call bullshit. No government works this fast; especially the US Government. If this was all leaked an hour ago, bureaucrats would still be running around trying to spin it or deny it, not acting on it. FAKE NEWS, BART, FAKE NEWS!
Which is good. I mean, not the FAKE NEWS part, but the not moving that fast part.
I mean they apparently shut down SEMME while they had agents out on a potential combat mission. At least take the time to wind things down. Replace the top leadership and put someone else in to oversee the shutdown, if you have to.
Not in 2004-ish when this first published, no. Now I’d expect a flurry of conflicting angry tweets barking orders about it a few minutes after it airs on an editorial TV show disguised as morning news.
All things aside, excellent use of color for the first three panels
I’m not sure if you meant to tag George W Bush instead of his father, but while both weren’t good presidents either would be preferable to the current moron in the oval office.
Even Nixon would be a step up. At least he wanted to keep things working, and had enough respect for the people to actually try to hide his wrongdoing, instead of just lying about it. And then stepped down when it didn’t work.
Hell, basically the only way to be worse than Trump is to be actively genocidal.
I’m not a big fan, but based on performance to date, I could name three worse Presidents off the top of my head.
Jackson, Grant, Adams, Buchanan, and Harding were all terrible even with Trump trying hard to screw things up.
As much as people dislike Trump, those five have documented issues that are irrefutable and not subject to politicking. One completely ignored the US Supreme Court’s ruling against him, one allowed open rebellion by the South sparking the Civil War, one went even beyond what Trump is doing with civil liberties by openly making laws that directly go against the First Amendment thereby making it illegal to even say anything bad against the President(and from a Founding Father no less!), and two have the worst, most corrupt cabinets in US history with both seeing the KKK rise under their leaderships.
Trump is a bad President, but he’s far from the worst. He’s in the bottom 10, he’s maybe the 6th or 7th worst depending on how you feel about Andrew Johnson.
Of course, that’s assuming it’s just dislike of Trump and that those “politicked issues” that aren’t yet publicly documented turn out not to be real.
Heh heh. Nice Bush
“hey remember when you didn’t have a constant stream of news flowing to you every single second through your internet phone” You mean … right now? I mean, sorta. I mostly just experience right now, I don’t particularly remember it yet.
It’s amazing how badly I want to wipe that smug smile off of Sarah’s face with a baseball bat.
Abandoning the agents in the field? Good job.
Yeah, kind of undermines the whole “this asshole is actually in the right” thing he’s pushing for, doesn’t it?
Hey, question not related to this storyline. Is this Roomies/It’s Walky rerun going to included re-running Shortpacked as well? Because that’s the webcomic that actually got me into the Walkyverse.
So long as that website’s functional, no. Part of what prompted this was that the old Walky host site was near completely defunct.
Hey, congrats! You’re finally free from the people that kidnapped you and made you fight aliens!
